Today... going out... me... Angel... Martinus... and Marcus.
This was basically what I understood from Angle's text. Because of course I would forget probably the most annoying hanging out in my life.
Yes, hanging out. 'Cause I'm not gonna call it a date.
Angel tried to convince me that it was, in fact, a date but she failed when I reminded her she was coming (She thought she could escape me, nah, nah, nah...). And Martinus, too. Which wouldn't bother me much if Marcus hadn't used MY tactic of making him mad to make ME mad.
I remembered the time on the football field with Marcus while I was dressing up. How much I enjoyed it, how little I learned about football. I guess I am gonna give them both a new chance because we had a rocky start and it wasn't their fault really.
"That... you're going to wear that?" Angel said from the door more like a question less like a statement.
"I didn't come here to state out the obvious," I said back. "I thought I could come here naked but it was too cold."
Angel grimaced and I laughed at her priceless expression.
Honestly, I couldn't fully describe my relationship with Marcus and Martinus. It was like friendship - we had fun but there was still this thing that was in the way. I couldn't quite place it. We joked and laughed but still it was like a barrier, prohibiting us from having a good time.
"Marcus, you are garbage at this," Martinus laughed.
Marcus tightened his grip on the water gun, "I can do this..." He shot and missed. He stared at the sky."Aw, come on! I'm just warming up."
"I agree with Martinus," Angel said with crossed arms. Martinus turned around and looked at her with a raised brow.
Frankly, I have never seen somebody so focused on aiming for a clown's mouth with a water gun so that the balloon over its head can pop so you could win a prize you could buy for like ten dollars from a kids store without loosing all your temper over a toy... like ever.
"Shut up, guys, I'm trying," Marcus said and he aimed again. Shot. Missed.
"Come on, you can do this, woo, I believe in you," I said in an enthusiastic tone. Marcus smiled.
"See? Alex believes in me," Marcus said to the others proudly.
"Nah, I just want this to be over with," I said with a shrug. Marcus pouted.
"Come on, Marcus," Martinus said. "Focus!"
Marcus shook his head. He shot. And missed. He threw his head back in irritation.
"You were so close," I patted him on the back. "Okay, guys. Let's go. There are a lot of other games in this fair."
Marcus seemed very disappointed in himself. He looked at the ground. Martinus was quick to notice.
"Okay, one quick game so that I can show Marcus how to play, please," Martinus suddenly said and took out his money. He caught Angel off guard.
"But-"
"Yes! Thank you," Marcus cut her off.
I gave Angel an apologetic look. "Okay, but make this quick we want to play, too."
They seemed to ignore me. Martinus took the gun and pointed it at the clown. He gave Marcus brief instruction and successfully popped the balloon.
"Here's your prize," the man behind the booth said. He won a giant panda.
"It's so fluffy and cute," Angel said in a childish voice. The panda was black and white, as expected, but it had big blue eyes and fluffy fur.
"You can have it if you wan-" Angel didn't let him finish and took the panda out of his hands. Martinus' eyes widened.
"Thank you!" Angel said to the very surprised Martinus.
"Okay, I'll try now," Marcus took out his money and then took the gun.
His first attempt was successful but the other two weren't. The man gave him his prize.
"A... key ring?" Marcus looked at the key-shaped key ring in his hand and then at Martinus and Angel. "You can have it if you want," he passed it to me.
"Thanks," I took it and fumbled with it before I put it on my keys. It was nice and certainly not worth all the trouble. "Okay, let's go."
We then went to the Ferris Wheel, played a couple more games, a part of which was the hoop throwing game but the bottle throats were too big and the hoops - too smal, in my opinion, so that's why we didn't win anything (no, I'm not mad). We then bought cotton candy and sat on a bench. The sky was dark and beautiful but there were no stars yet.
"So, Alex, how's Norway so far?" Martinus asked.
"This is the most boring question I have ever heard in my entire life," Angel said. She took a bite of her cotton candy.
"What's up with you? At first you are this sweet, innocent person and then you turn into this savage monster," Martinus raised his eyebrows.
"Monster? Well, somebody has to tell you that your jokes are trash!" Angel yelled. From then on Angel and Martinus went on and on about each other's flaws while Marcus and I wached and snickered.
We looked at each other and then at the fighting two. It was so easy to make these two fight. Frankly, I stopped keeping track of their fights and whether or not they're friends anymore.
I looked down at my cotton candy wraper and then at Marcus'. I took it and then gestured him to follow me. I threw away the wrappers and turned to him.
"I wonder if they'll notice we're gone."
Marcus shrugged but didn't say anything.
"What is it? You haven't said anything for a while," I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Oh, I didn't notice. Sorry," he apologized.
An awkward silence washed over us but the occasional mocks coming from Martinus and Angel didn't let it fully settle in.
"Not being around long? Maybe it's because I'm touring around with my brother, I don't know!" Martinus defended.
"Well, other than that you always go kick that bloody ball around all day!" Angel yelled.
"It's called football, you brat!" Martinus yelled back.
Marcus and I started laughing loudly and uncontrollably. We couldn't hold it in anymore. I heard that they were laughing, too, and joined us.
"You guys are so dumb it hurts," I said in between my laughs. That seemed to make them laugh even more.
We went home soon after. The walk to there was long but we talked. The cold breeze was nice and the steet lamps lit our way.
I felt just how tired I am when I reached in my pocket to open the door. And when I took out the keys I couldn't fight the smile on my face from seeing the key ring Marcus gave me.
Okay, you have your chance. Don't waste it.
Author's Note:
I'M NOT DEAD!! [Tho I don't think you'd care :)] Whatever, I think I should stop updating this book's chapters so that I can apologize for not updating and I should actually start updating this book so that I can finish it, but... it's hard. Especially when I have exams and then homework and then exams... So I apologize [again] for not updating but don't think that means I'm going to update more. And also apology #2 I'm sorry for not updating during the summer when it would've been more fitting to update but I just felt bored by this book. So if you're still reading this book [thank you] you're a hero and you're awesome.
