(5) Unexpected Invitation

A few weeks later she came into her office to find a white envelope with gold fancy writing on it with her name on it on her desk. She opened it up and saw

"You Are Cordially Invited to the Barnes' International Charity Event on Saturday October 20th at 8PM"

Well that's a first." she said to herself

"Daisy!" she yelled

"Reply to this RSVP as Yes." she said as she hands it to her.

"Also Daisy find me a dress as well as shoes and a matching clutch you know the drill." she said

"Of course Ms James." Daisy said and went back to her desk.

"Mr Barnes what are you doing inviting me. I haven't exactly made the best impression" she thought to herself. Across town Bucky was at his office when Maria came in "Mr Barnes a Daisy Cooper just called from Elle Kate Designs rsvping to the event." she said

"And?" Bucky said

"She will be there." Maria said

"Good that's good email me the list please." he said then he went back to working on his paperwork.

Maria left his office and said "Yes sir."

Bucky sat back in his chair and pulled up her Instagram it was mainly filled with different sketches and designs that she had been working on. Or vacation pictures not many selfies alot of trips were to Paris or Milan.

He sighed and put his phone back on his desk. He was lost in his thoughts when Steve walked in. "Buck.." Steve said

"Oh hey Steve sorry I was lost in my thoughts." Bucky said

"Um Natasha has asked me to let you know that she wants to put in her two week notice and be a stay at home mom. She found out this morning that she's pregnant with two babies. And so she wants to focus on being a good mom." Steve said

"Oh..well I guess that's fine. I mean I understand why she wants to leave the company so tell her to bring me a written statement and I will make sure she gets a severance package." he said

"Thank you Buck." Steve said then he stopped at the door.

"Buck.." Steve said

"Yeah." he said

"Do you think that this is out of character for Natasha? Natasha has never been the submissive type she's more of a beta then a omega." Steve said

Bucky swallowed hard "I think that being a mom has soften Natasha. She's always been one to speak her mind but I think that she feels like four kids is probably more than she can chew while being a working mom. It's hard my mom did it till she had me remember I'm the youngest of 5. Between her and my dad and not to mention my half siblings that my dad has with his first wife they have 4 that's 9 kids." Bucky said

"Yeah you are probably right." Steve said then left.

Bucky let out a breathe "I need a drink" he whispered and poured himself some scotch.

He pushed the button on his phone "Maria send in Wanda Maximoff."

"Yes Mr Barnes." she said

A few minutes later Wanda came in "You wanted to see me." she said

"Yeah" he said as he sat his drink down as he leaned against the front of his desk.

"Steve has informed me that Natasha is putting in a two week notice and that means I will need a new HR head I am appointing you as my new HR department head effective in two weeks. When Natasha comes in with her written statement I will have her train you." he said

"Okay.." she said

He took a drink of his scotch. "But I'm not gonna let you sleep with me?' Wanda said

He lowered his drink slowly "excuse me. What did you just say?' he said

"James I am not stupid..I know Maxie Grace isn't Steve's she may have Natasha's red hair but those blue eyes she has isn't Steve's they are yours. I'm willing to bet the real reason why Natasha wants to quit is because she can't bare the thought of you possibly being the father of her twins. I've done that math Buck Steve was gone for a whole month and she magically appeared pregnant. You two may have him fooled but not me." Wanda said

"Wanda..I did what I had to do to help ease her pain. I had no intention of getting Natasha pregnant." he said

Wanda shook her head "Just like when you two lost your virginity together at 14 in your clubhouse." she said

"I am a alpha Wanda that is my job to give the girl my knot when she is in heat. Natasha is one of my best friends just like Steve. I'm sure he would understand if he knew the truth that I was only helping ease her pain.  " he said as his nostrils flare.

"I'm sure..I don't mind to take the position but I was just letting you know that you won't have me." Wanda said

"Out of my office Wanda" he said

"Gladly." she said and walked out.
