*Aiden*

I was walking down the hall of my new school... it smelled weird. Like a hospital room, fresh paint, warm food, perfume, and stupid teens.

I just moved to Georgia from California ... and I'm liking it so far. I caused too much crap in California so they hauled me here to live with my "family". Honestly, I don't know anyone that I moved in with yet. I only knew that we were all different. Some vampires, some werewolves, some super humans, some dragons, some Phoenix's, a lot of other mythological creatures... and one shapeshifter... that would be me.

I walked down the long hallway with the principal taking me to my class. Her cream colored heals clicked on the hard tile floor. Her voice was soft but hard as she spoke , " So... Aiden? Are you liking Georgia?" I just shrugged and looked around at the classrooms as we passed by,"I guess so.. it's just... different."

She nodded her head and made a sharp turn down yet another long hall and started walking. How big is this damn school? She knocked on a big wood door. I looked at the name plate by it. "Dr. Cook" I mumbled to myself. not even a second later a tall, tan, dark haired, younger man opened the door. He looked at me and inhaled deeply. His nose twitched slightly as he gestured me inside the room. I followed him and stood in front of the class that was currently staring at me. I could feel the heat rising on my face. "Class this is Aiden Jones. He's our new student. He just moved here from California. Make him feel welcomed." I kinda half-smiled and nodded while being shown to a desk.

He sat me in the very back of the room even though there were up to 15 desks in front of me. I gave Dr. Cook a questionable look and he looked at me and brought his voice down to where only I could here it, "I could smell you when you walked in." I looked up at him. I was very confused until his eyes flashed from his deep brown eyes to a crimson red and back again. I smirked slyly and whispered back, "vampire." He nodded and stood back up. As he turned to walk away I saw two little circular scars on the side of his neck. So he wasn't born that way. Then what turned him?

I was snapped out of my thoughts when a piece of paper hit me in the side of the head. I bent down and picked it up and pulled my arm back to chuck it at the laughing ass hole that threw at me. I threw it harder then I meant to. Next thing I knew I was eye-to-eye with a frikking giant, gripping the collar of my shirt and looking at me with the death glare. "Mr. Peters?! What on God's green Earth do you think you're doing?!" Dr. Cook came walking over to him. I wasn't scared at all. I knew that I was smaller then him. But not by much. Maybe an inch shorter. He was trying to scare me and as he looked and saw that it wasn't working he set me back straight and shook his head. "I'm sorry. I am not entirely sure what came over me. Please excuse me." It sounded scripted. He got up and walked into the hall.

I saw a boy with black hair that was longer on top and shorter on the sides. He was pale with piercing blue eyes. He looked at me and he looked like he was concentrating. He shifted his gaze to the big guy that had left me alone. He was pointing his finger at him from under his desk and moved it out the door and the bigger guy moved with his finger. He then put his finger down and the guy stopped walking and turned to look at the class, "I'm going to go to the bathroom now. I will be back shortly Dr. Cook." I noticed that the guy at his desk was mouthing the words as the big guy said them. Dr. Cook watched him and nodded and slowly shut the door behind him.

The guy looked over at me and his eyes flashed from his natural blue to white and then back again. Telekinetic. Knew it. I flashed my eyes from their light brown to my entire eye being black. He smiled and mouthed "Shapeshifter" I nodded in response. "Aiden and Max. Stop doing that. You could get in serious trouble for that outside of the house and you guys know that. I suggest you guys stop that before you get us ALL in a lot of trouble", Dr. Cook was speaking from his desk with his eyes fixated on us. We knew exactly what he meant. 'The Specials' aren't supposed to show their eyes or powers to anyone but their housemates or soulmates. And even though I can take on the form of anything my true form is the one I'm in right now but in order to mate with someone you have to bite them. So, all of us have razor sharp canines. But werewolves' stay out or extended longer and come out easier. Mine are never too noticeable. Just a little longer and sharper.

Our inner creature talks to us when we see our soulmate. Sometimes it's someone you know. Sometimes it's someone you've known for five minutes. You'll end up loving them for eternity. And if they can't accept you, well, you basically wither away into a pile of nothingness. I wonder who my soulmate is. It was nobody in California. Maybe they're here in Georgia. I guess we'll just have to find out.

"Aiden Jones, I'm going to need to ask you to stay after so I may speak to you and help you get caught up on what we're doing in class." I looked up to catch Dr. Cook looking at me. I nodded and looked back down at my blank desk. The lights turned off as a bunch of girls screamed and I used my strong hearing to hear Dr. Cook, "Max. Turn them back on. Now." With that the lights came back on and I saw as Max's eyes went from white to blue again. He looked at me then down at my desk. I looked down and saw a note. I picked it up and un-folded it. 'Meet me by the lockers across the hall after your chat with Alexander.' I'm assuming that Alexander is Dr.Cook. I looked from the teacher to Max. I nodded lightly and got up to throw the note away.

Once I threw it in the small silver trash-can I turned to walk back and saw this girl staring at me. I heard a small voice in my head 'Aiden. Can you hear me?' I looked back down at her confused and she smiled. 'I'll take that as a yes.' her eyes changed from hazel to bright purple. Mind-reader. Our mind-readers don't only read minds but they can talk to others with it. Some people call them "their conscience". Which we are obviously not. 'Who are you?' I said back to the girl, sitting behind her. I could see her cheeks ride into a smile 'Scarlett Merrill'. I nodded and she started talking again 'I'm assuming that Max told you he needs to talk to you?' I looked up to see her head slightly turned so the she could see me through the corner of her eye. I nodded as my response. She turned around and slammed her book shut.

"Mrs. Merrill, what do you think you're doing?" Mr. Cook was watching her as she grabbed her bags. Then the bell rang as she stood up and walked towards the door, "Leaving." He shook his head with a small smile on his face. Max looked at me as he walked out the door. I walked to Dr.Cook's desk, "You needed me?" He nodded and looked up at me.

"Here a hand full of students are 'special' but we have to contain it the best we can. you seem like a nice kid but within 342 years here I've seen the nicest kids go insane from their powers. Please don't be like them. You may be able to use them to your advantage sometimes but do NOT use them to harm yourself or anyone else. Unless defending yourself from rouges." I nodded as I considered everything that he told me. With that he looked at me "Aiden, I'm serious. You may go now. Enjoy Georgia." I nodded and walked out the door.

I saw Max across the hall leaned against the lockers. I walked over to him and nodded as a 'sup' kinda thing. He smiled and got up and walked over to me "Let me guess 'You seem like a nice kid. Don't use your powers to harm yourself or anyone else. Blah blah blah.' he imitated Dr. Cook's voice. I smiled and nodded "Yeah. He seems like a nice guy though" Max shrugged. "So, Max, what did you need to talk to me about?" He stopped walking and looked at me. He smiled,"I have a question." I nodded as a 'go on'. He looked at me and said," There's this thing. That a group of us have started doing. We throw a party. Mortals and specials. Wanna come? Sometimes it gets dangerous. For the most part it's fun though. It's this friday. Here's the address." He handed me a piece of paper and smiled. I nodded and he went to walk off.

"Hope to see you there." I smiled and shoved the paper in my pocket.
