Background: (Contains  spoilers) You first meet Nico in the third book of Percy Jackon and the  Olympians, "the Titan's Curse" Nico is from the past, along with his  deceased older sister, Bianca. They were hidden away in this special  hotel until they were supposed to return to the world again. They were  sent to a school, and Percy Jackson, Thalia Grace, and Annabeth Chase  were sent to retrieve them. Their friend, Grover Underwood, had found  them. But, there was a monster there who had disguised itself as a  teacher. They fought, and Annabeth disappeared along with the monster.  The Hunters of Artemis, along with Artemis, appeared. They went back to  Camp Half-blood along with the kids, and they figured out that they  would have to go on a quest.Thalia, Bianca (who had become a Hunter of  Artemis), and the head girl – Zoe Nightshade- set off on the quest,  while Nico is left at the Camp. Percy sneaks out and follows them.  During the quest, Bianca is killed. Nico blames Percy, and runs away.  Nico was 10 and Bianca was 12. In "Battle of the Labyrinth" Nico is  tracking down a soul to see if he can trade it for his sister back. He  gets captured, but before he does, Percy, Annabeth, Grover, and Tyson  appear at the same place he is. He tells Percy he still hates him, and  that is where Annabeth, Grover, Tyson, and Nico are captured. Percy  rescues them, and Nico succeeds in summoning Biana's spirit. She tells  Nico not to be angry at Percy because it isn't his fault. He stays at  the place they just were, but then is tricked into going into the  Labyrinth, where he is captured.

Nico is rescued by  Percy. He saves all of them from the big baddie by creating a wall  between him and them, allowing them to escape. At the battle back at  Camp Half-Blood, he summons undead warriors to help fight, and it  exhausts him. He tells Percy that he doesn't belong at Camp Half-Blood,  and he leaves. But right before he does, Percy gives Nico the statue  that Bianca gave him to give to Nico before she died. He appears at  Percy's apartment on his birthday, and offers a way to defeat Kronos,  the big baddie who they must defeat. In "The Last Olympian" Nico takes  Percy to the Underworld, to go through with the plan. They are tricked,  and Percy is trapped by Nico's father, who is none other than Hades, god  of the Underworld. Nico rescues Percy, and they go through with the  plan. After a few events, Nico is able to convince his father to help  the campers in battle. Together, they fight in the battle, and in the  end they all win. When Nico next shows up, it's in "The Son of Neptune"  where he is 13. A bit before this, he rescued the spirit of his  half-sister –Hazel Levesque- from the Underworld. It was mentioned in  the previous book "the Lost Hero" that Nico was helping search for  Percy, who had gone missing, and that Nico only sometimes showed up.  When Nico shows up again at Camp Jupiter, the Roman camp for demigods,  it is not the first time. When Percy suddenly shows up there, Nico is  shocked. He tells Hazel after that he knows Percy, but Percy must find  his way himself. Nico help in the meeting, when he supports the others  by telling them what happene in the first gian war, and what is  happening in the Underworld, and how to fix it. Nico sets off to find  the Doors of Death from inside, so from in the Underworld. It is  mentioned that he was captured by enemy forces somewhere in Rome. (I  will not post things about the Mark of Athena, considering  TheGhostOfHearts hasn't finished it, and it is too new so it will spoil  too much)
