Zola x Zoe (FE14 Canon x OC) oneshot collection

(Jap. High-school AU!) Chemistry

It was a sunny spring day, when Class 1-1 of St. Nohr Highschool had their first chemics lesson. They had to do some rather simple experiment with a Bunsen burner and different organic materials like wood and wool.

Zoe was rather nervous because she’s never been any good in chemics, so she decided it’d be best to sit with someone who was good at chemics. But who? She didn’t knew all of her new classmates yet and the one she knew are bad in chemics as well or sitting next to someone else.

As time went by, everyone took a seat. The only free seat was next to Zola, who looked rather lonely anyways.

She decided to ask “Umm.. Hey! May I sit next to you, maybe?’”

He looked at her rather shocked. He wasn’t expecting that anyone would want to sit with him. Was it because it’s the only place left? Probably.

“Y-yes, s-sure..!” He spoke a bit nervously since he wasn’t really used to talk to girls.

“Thank you!” She smiled as she took her seat.

Both of them looked at the desk, waiting for the teacher to arrive. They both were too nervous to even look at each.

After some time went by, Zoe decided to introduce herself. “Oh, my name is Zoe, by the way.”

Zola already knew her name, but did she know his?

He decided to introduce himself anyways “Th-that’s a nice name..! I’m Zola.”

She already knew. He caught her attention right from their first day at that school, but she was too busy to talk to him until now. She just admired him from afar the past few days. She was really drawn to his bright green eyes.

“Well, your name is pretty cool, too!” she responded.

Zola wondered, was that a compliment? He couldn’t quite believe it. Was that really happening? Was she, who caught his attention right from the start, really talking to him right now?

He didn’t have much time to further think about it, since the teacher soon arrived.

Every team got their Bunsen burner, wool and wood, as well as some glass plates to put the materials on. Zoe decided to turn the Bunsen burner on. Nothing bad could happen from just doing that, could it?

As she made that thought, it was too late. The flame was enormous. What did she do wrong?

“Oh my god the whole building is gonna burn down!” Zoe almost panicked for a second.

But then she realized, the flame got smaller and smaller. She almost forgot that it was completely normal, when you first turn a Bunsen burner on.

“Heh, didn’t you know that’s going to happen?” Zola was slightly laughing.

Zoe looked at him with big eyes. He must’ve been thinking she’s a complete idiot now! That surely wasn’t what she wanted.

“I… ummm… kind of forgot! I’m not good at chemics at all… but please don’t think that I’m stupid now..!” She spoke silently.

Much to her surprise, Zola just smiled at her.

“It’s totally fine, really! E-everyone makes mistakes from time to time, it’s alright!”

She sighed. Hearing that from him surely was a relief. Him thinking bad of her was the least thing she wanted.

“Are you… ummm... scared of fire in general?” Zola was curious.

Zoe chuckled for a moment “Isn’t that a natural fear?”

“Well, I guess that m-might be kind of true, I umm… totally understand!”

Short after everyone was done with the experiment, the bell rang. Actually, both of them were kinda sad that school’s over for today. At least for the ordinary first years who haven’t had to choose their club yet, unlike Zola who already was in drama club since his actual first year at St. Nohr.

“Oh, I’ll go to the city with some friends… wanna join?” Zoe smiled at Zola.

“W-well uhh.. I’m not really good with too many people and I have to go to drama club now anyways, so…” Zola was actually looking a bit sad now, he really wanted to spend some more time with Zoe after all.

“Drama club? That’s awesome! I bet acting’s totally fun!” She was visibly impressed.

Zola looked at her in disbelief. Should he maybe ask her…

“Would you umm… like to… join the club?”
