~First Chapter~
The lights were hot and bright, and I could feel the sweat trickling
down my face. He stretched his hand out to me and spoke, "Cinderella, will you come live with me in the palace? We would get married, and we could live happily ever after. Together. " I reached my hand out and gently placed it on top of his. "Of course, my prince. Nothing could ever make me any happier than to stay by your side forever." He used his other arm and circled around my small waist, pulling me in closer. He released his other hand from mine, and set it under my chin, pulling my head up to look into his beautiful cyan eyes. My gaze dropped to his lips. Closer and closer, with our breaths mixing, and soon we were only millimeters apart. He was caressing my lower lip, when suddenly he screeched,
"ELLA!"
My eyes shot open and I was staring into the eyes of my English teacher, Mrs. Rodin. "Ha ha... Hey there..."
She didn't look happy at all. "Did you hear anything I just said about your current assignment, Ella?" I rolled my lower lip into my mouth.
The prince...
She interrupted my play! Oh, we didn't even get to kiss!
"Ella!"
My thoughts were once again interrupted, and I heard the class laugh behind me. She sighed, probably already tired of dealing with this every week."You have to write an essay about what you would like to do before high school ends. Ah, a dream that you want to fulfill, hm? Get started, you have an hour."
I reluctantly started, but it didn't take long for my creative juices to flow.
Probably about thirty minutes passed, since I kept checking over and over again for mistakes. This was probably why my teacher didn't kick me out of class. Despite the fact that I usually fall asleep during a boring lecture, I'm one of the few students in her class that dedicate myself to my work.
The bell rang, and we flipped our papers over on our desk and headed out to lunch. Everyone in my class had B lunch, when our class is split in half. The first half we stay, then go to lunch, and return for the second half of class.
As I was walking down the hallway, I passed by the theatre department and saw a sign:
"Cinderella Play Tryout Sign-Up Sheet"
Five girls had already signed up to try out for Cinderella. No one had signed up for Prince Charming. Did he even have normal name?
Cinderella, will you come live with me in the palace?
I could feel my hand levitating over my pencil. I wanted to sign up. I touched the tip of my pencil, but I soon heard footsteps and voices coming from the other side of the hallway, and decided to retreat from the poster.
I felt the heat of the sun which contradicted with the coolness of the breeze. My hair flew around me, but soon settled when I passed the pavilion and entered the cafeteria.
I didn't have many friends. I always sat alone at lunch. I wasn't really involved in school activities either, so I didn't have a group I could join. I had acquaintances, you know, just people to talk to in class so I won't be a total loner.
I sat in my isolated corner of the cafeteria, eating my cold chicken salad sandwich. If I turned just slightly to my left, I would see the drama kids. They were always laughing and having fun.
Man, I can't believe I almost signed up for the play. I was not that kind of person.
The bell rang, once more, and startled everyone from their state of relaxation. As I walked past a couple of students, I heard them groan. Well, weren't they excited.
I passed by the theatre department again, seeing as it was my usual route to and from my class. A new person had signed up for Prince Charming, huh? I read the name, written in messy, rushed-looking handwriting:
Chad Everston
Who?
I didn't have time to ponder. I realized I'd been staring at his name for too long and was about to get late to class.
We continued writing our essays, but all I had to do was write my conclusion, and I was done with that class. Mrs. Rodin picked up my paper, placed her glasses on the bridge of her nose, and slowly walked back to her desk, her 2 inch heels clacking all the way.
I sat there, thinking of Chad Everston. Was he new here? I may be unpopular, but I always know people. Besides, I rarely see a guy who's interested in theatre.
The bell rang, and for the third time, my thoughts were interrupted in this English class. Two more classes to go.
The day passed by slowly, but finally, it was time to go home. I took the bus, and walked from the edge of my street, where the bus always drops me off.
I got home and kicked off my shoes, finding a note next to the coat rack by my door.
Honey, we're at work right now. We hope you had a great day at school! We'll see you later. Make sure you eat dinner, we don't want to find you passed out on the floor, alright? Hugs and kisses xoxo
Mom & Dad
My parents were so busy, always trying to get what's best for me. I appreciated what they did for me. I was really lucky to have them.
I looked in the freezer. Frozen fettuccine alfredo. Well, better than nothing! I popped it in the microwave for about 3 minutes, and took it out. Steam rose from the top of the noodles and sauce, and it smelled pretty good. I gulped it down, not even realizing how hungry I was, and grabbed a glass of water and tilted the glass up so the water would slide down my throat.
I had no homework today, so I decided to chill out on my bed. I grabbed my laptop and saw a new email:
From B_Rodin@school.org: Ella, you're composition was really touching today. I never thought you would actually dream of acting! I was so moved that I decided to sign you up for the school play! Good luck! Mrs. Rodin
Wait... What?
A/N: Is it even right to put two of these in here? Ha ha, I don't know I guess I'll figure out later :P. So... Tell me how it was in
