It was a normal day for me, I just got back from hunting for the guild. We supply each other with food. We don't bother with the stalls in town square, their meat is never as fresh ours. I was carrying home the average, a few jackrabbits and some elk I salvaged, my horse made it all that much easier to transport it. I made my way to my guild hall and dropped off my catch. It was a hot day and I was looking forward to resting at home. I made it no further than down the steps before I hear a guard calling my name.
“Alexander! Alexander!” It wasn't the usual man that the King sends. He usually sends one of his many servants and they are never in a hurry so I knew that something was wrong.
I fought my way through the crowd toward the voice until I came face to face with the man.
“Easy soldier, what’s going on?” I stopped the guard from running any further.
“It’s the King, he has requested your presents! He said it was urgent so I ran as fast as I could,” The soldier was breathing heavy, the run from the Keep to the guildhall was not a quick trip, especially with armor as heavy as his.
“Thank you for your haste, go down to the mead hall, rest up.” I say in a fast tone.
“Yes sir,” with that I bolted for the Keep, as I got closer to the Keep, the further away it seemed, and the thicker the crowd became. I finally made it and the King was waiting at the doors for me.
“Make haste son, make haste!” He motioned me inside and brought me to his war room.
“What makes me urgent my lord?” as little as I liked it, I still had to treat him with respect and what not, if I did not, he could have my head in an instant.
“It’s breaking my boy, it’s breaking!” He attempted to be quiet about it.
“What is my lord?” I already knew the answer to this, but I wished he would tell me otherwise, it was not granted.
“The seal, the sorcerer is coming back.” He ran frantically to the old chamber, where I followed. The chamber had a high ceiling and large statues of the chosen. The blades were inserted into their stone mound in a wide circle, they were what were keeping the seal closed. It may as well have been a black tornado in the middle of the blades,
“My lord, what are we going to do?” I shielded my eyes from the breaking seal.
“Not we my boy, You!” I look over to see the King grabbing the daggers out of their mounds,
“My lord, what are you doing?” I was in shock that he was undoing the seal.
“There is no point in trying to put this off any longer, You need to find new owners for these,” He handed me five and motioned me to pull the last one,
“What will become of you my lord?” my shout was barely loud enough for him to hear.
“I will stay here lad, and do what I can to give you time to escape,” He nodded. I had hooked all the others blades to my belt and put both my hands on the final one, as I grabbed it, it began to glow. I paid no attention to it, pulled the blade from its slumber and ran for the exit. I stopped next to the King,
“May the winds carry you to safety,” The King grabbed his sword. “And may the goddess watch your travels.” Without another word I ran from the Keep, knowing and that I must return to his aid with the new members of the Six blades.
