Prompt: She woke in the middle of the night, went downstairs and discovered that her front door was standing wide open.

Howling wind was what woke her up, or maybe it was the shivers that wrecked havoc on her spine and her delicate features. Whatever the reason was it didn't matter now, she had begrudgingly gotten up with a few groans of disappointment and chattering from her teeth. Bare feet connected with the fuzzy carpeted floor below, hands wrapped desperately around herself in a feeble attempt to stay warm.

It was then, in that matter of regaining full awareness of her senses, that she noticed what time it was. Midnight, exactly so and the clock refused to change or even flicker off it. With a small sigh the female walked out of her cozy little room and down the set of stairs like she had done so many times before. Auburn eyes stared through an open door, wind blowing furiously through it, ominious light flowing in.

Only a few seconds had passed before a snarl was heard, replacing the unsettling quiet besides the wind. The girl turned around to face the noise and was met with piercing red eyes. The snarling grew louder as the eyes seemed to rise in the shadows, the startlingly large creature nearing the girl who stood frozen in place. Crimson droplets fell to the floor coming from the beasts maw and torso. Sharp teeth glistened in the moonlight as it stuck its snout under her chin and tilted her face up.

With a heavy breath it let out a small whine, its large stature shaking. The girl lifted her hands and pressed them gently on the creatures face, a warm smile on her tear-stained face.

"You took a while dear, I was starting to get worried."
