—Chapter 5—
Life Segments (2) & Gladiolus

What seemed to be weeks later, the two travelers finally had a chance to relax. Whether it be saving people from military warfare or from an almost incurable disease, the two were always worked down to their bones. But for once, the location they deemed as their next destination was peaceful. Nothing rather unusual to interrupt the societal order; nothing too horrendous to prevent. Just a peaceful few days to themselves...

A knocking sounded through the door and into the room of where the raven had resided for the night. She grumbled, eventually pulling the covers over herself in an attempt to muffle the sound. "Yuu-san, wake up. Didn't you ask to pull you from your slumber around this time?" The male's voice reached her ears as she groaned. "Just five... more minutes please."

The silver-haired male placed his hand on the doorknob and unlocked the door once hearing that response. "Get up, Yuuki Satou. I'm not going to repeat myself again." He walked over to the disfigured shape on the bed and pulled the covers off. What he saw wasn't the usual proper, uptight woman he knew but rather a disheveled ball wearing an oversized long-sleeved grey shirt with black shorts. The sleepy woman groaned, her hands roaming to attempt to obtain the covers once more. He instinctively threw it over her head and stomped out of the room, waiting in the hall. "Y-You indecent woman! How can you even look like that?!"

The male shouting made the woman sit upright, rubbing her eyes. She covered her mouth as she yawned before rubbing her right eye as her left eye searched the room. "What do you mean... This is a perfectly normal outfit." She stretched her limbs, feeling the slight crackling noises from her bones before leaving the bed. She noticed the male's back by the door frame and walked towards him. "Besides, Emiya. These are combat shorts I'm wearing. If you thought it was something else, I suggest you go and meditate for once to clear your mind."

She saw his ears glow in embarrassment as she heard him scoff and walk away. "R-Right... Breakfast is ready." She chuckled, as she head to the bathroom. "I'm surprised you could prepare breakfast. Either way, I'll be there in a moment." The raven freshened up and walked toward the small living room area. The aroma hit the raven's nose and sighed contently.

"This scent..." She sat down at the table, seeing an assortment of small dishes. "...it reminds me partially of home. Japanese-oriented breakfast?" The male's brow rose as he sat down opposite of her. "Yes, it is. And partially? Where's your birthplace?"

She took a bite of the food, smiling to herself before continuing to speak in between her food consumption. "My birthplace? Japan, but I think I lived in Ireland for some time." The male hummed for a moment. "Interesting. I'm from the same location. However, you don't look like you're from Ireland."

The raven shrugged. "My mother's part Irish if I recall correctly." She motioned to her eyes. "That's why I have these eye colors. It's not like people paid much attention to my physical appearance anyways." The male ate parts of the breakfast as well, following similar manners to the female. "So what happened to them? You don't look like the type to leave home, no offense."

She chuckled, waving her hand in front of her face for a bit. "None taken. They don't exist here anymore. I've been alone for over twenty years." Onyx orbs fell upon the woman's facial features, not seeing anything negative regarding her lost. "So you're the same too huh..." He mumbled under his breath.

"The same?" She looked up, seeing slight sadness within those onyx eyes. "Your parents are gone as well?" He hesitated, unsure of how to explain it to her. "Uh... Yeah. Heard of Kiritsugu?" She placed her utensils down, finished with her meal. "...Yes, I have. You don't need to finish your thought if you don't want to. I... got a general idea." He sighed, nodding before finishing his share of the meal. "Thank you."
