Eight o'clock and [Name]'s shift at Tribeca was over; the great thing about working part time here was that her hours were flexible, and pay was actually pretty good. Maybe it was because Tribeca was one of the most high end, expensive restaurants in town. That would be a factor in her wages.
"Nee-chan, why don't you join in with us?" pouted Hotaru as she held her older sister's left hand. Kotori, who held [Name]'s right hand, nodded vigorously in agreement. The three [Surname] girls were walking down the road as night began to fall. It was now nearly eight thirty, and the twins had to be in bed by nine. Strict rule of their mother's.
"I'm too old, Taru," laughed [Name] as she and her sisters came to a stop at the pedestrian crossing. Kotori pushed the button, and the three of the chatted animatedly as they waited for the man to go green.
"That's right, you took boxing and self defence classes when you were our age, right?" crooned seven year old Kotori, looking up at her sister. [Name] laughed and tilted her head to the side. She didn't want to tell them that she was the reason why her parents forbade the twins from ever taking the same lessons.
As she fell into deep thought, the man turned green, and the twins pulled their sister forward, snapping her out of her thoughts.
"Nee-ch-"
Before either of the twins could fully grasp their sister's attention, [Name] had shrieked and yanked both of them back onto the footpath as a black car swerved before them, narrowly avoiding running them over. Hotaru and Kotori fell to the ground, shocked mostly by how swift their sister had been. [Name] angrily marched over to the car and banged her fist on the hood, fuming.
"HEY, DUMBASS! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!" she yelled as she pelted down blow after blow on the car's exterior. The front window slowly began to slide down, and a man's face was slowly revealed. He had twinkling blue eyes and bright blonde hair. His eyes were wide, before his face collapsed into a smile.
"Oh, hey there. Are you [Name]?" he asked politely, acting as if he hadn't narrowly avoided killing her and her sisters. [Name] clenched her fists and scowled at him.
"What's it to you?" she spat, banging another fist on the roof of his car. He sweatdropped, and awkwardly looked up at [Name].
"I'm, uh, Naruto," he said carefully, for fear of further inflaming the girl. "I'm one of Sakura's... friends. I wanted to thank you for the other day."
"I don't know anyone called Sakura," said [Name] in an acidic tone, crossing her arms. The twins had gotten back to their feet and were at [Name]'s side, each clutching an arm while looking upon their would be killer in fascination. [Name] uncrossed her arms and put one around each of her sisters' shoulders, pulling them closer to her.
"Wow. Okay, well, uh... do you need a ride home? I heard about your situation, and I wanted to, you know... thank you."
[Name] raised an eyebrow, thinking that he was being delirious.
"I don't know what you heard, Naruto-kun, but I'm in no situation," said [Name] bluntly. "If you'll excuse me, I have to take my sisters home now. Bye."
As [Name] walked off, Naruto spluttered as he tried to find the right words to talk to her. He turned to the person in the passengers seat, a man named Sai.
"Is she serious?!"
Naruto quickly unbuckled his seatbelt and hopped out of the car, striding towards [Name] with his arm outstretched. She was highly unaware of the danger she was in, and that very fact made him nauseous.
"[Name]-"
Naruto was cut off as [Name] screamed. She'd enveloped the two of them in her arms and turned her back to the oncoming white vehicle, in an attempt to protect her sisters. The new car screeched to a halt before [Name], making Naruto's eyes widen.
