A Word About Rebecca

Before I began uploading my novel (previously self published as Keeper of the Scale) as a series here on Wattpad, people would tell me not to bother, that Wattpad is just for teenagers, who won't be interested in a story featuring several main characters, all decades apart.

I disagree.

For starters, one of the main characters is Rebecca, a young college student/artist/model. And so what if the other two are older? That's the point of the story, that several women of varying ages and life stages (with little in common except the desire to lose weight) are able to bond over the ageless goal of dieting.

Who says that teens/young adults can't enjoy books featuring all kinds of characters? Just as I enjoy reading both young and new adult fiction, although I have a teen of my own. In fact, I am already working on another novel which will fall under the young adult genre.

And for that matter, although I write what is considered women's contemporary fiction, whose to say that no man would ever read it. I also enjoy reading books featuring male lead characters.

It's time to stop stereotyping both readers and writers, and simply celebrate all kinds of readers and writers.

The character of Rebecca actually began as a short story way back when I myself was in college. And she decided to reappear as I began writing this novel. I hope you enjoy getting to know her as much as I have had fun writing about her!

*I'll be sure to share some photos here that I've been uploading along with her chapters. More to come! Stay tuned, and be sure to check out the series, now in progress, publishing as a separate story. Follow me for the latest updates!
