"What... this early?"
Fern stood up and went to the door to only find her good friend (who lived really close to her). "Huh, oh hey Fern! Nice to see you already up and ready". Rookie said with a slight tone of delight and she smiled. Fern realised her tone but it was probably because it's so early and she might be a bit exhausted. "Heyya what you doing in my doorstep so early?" Rookie paused and raised an eyebrow at her. "Early? It's frickin 11 am! It's not that early. Yeesh you sleep a lot don't you?" Fern just laughed a bit but then turn her attention to the post and letters in Rookies hand. "Oh this? Um since I'm a nice person I thought I could pick these letters up for you so uh here you go". She lend the letters to Fern and smiled and Fern with content took it from Rookies hand. Rookie so curious to see the letters she took some back and flipped the letters over each other to see what each was about. "Bills, specsavers glasses, bills..." Fern just quietly checked her letters but then spotted something that caught her eyes. A letter for Fern and Rookie? Wait what? From who?! "Hey what you got there..?" Rookie said after noticing Ferns strange form of looking at the letter she had in her hand. She still didn't respond but she soon open the envelope and took out the paper and started to read:
"Dear Fern and Rookie,
It's been 10 years since I've seen you two and I really miss you. Come back to the old animation studio so we can talk and have quality time. Oh and Rookie, I think your granddad is going to be happy to see you.
See you there

"Woah... what the actual hell..?" Said Rookie as she stared at the letter in awe. "Woah indeed..." said Fern before she looked up and a smile appeared in her face. Rookie stared at Fern and she knew what that face meant. "Fern, that better not be your 'you know what this means' face... I swear if your thinking what your thinking-" Rookie was then cut off by Fern taking her hand and jumped up and down. "You know what this means!? Finally an adventure, the best way to start this summer!" Rookie could see the excitement running up Fern's whole body and to the tippy top of her head and she looked like she was gonna explode.
Well I mean, if a friend wants to go on a adventure should you go too? And of course you don't want to be seen as kind of selfish and lazy...One adventure wouldn't hurt right? Fern looked at Rookie and was really keen on waiting for her answer. Rookie smiled but then sighed, deep down she kind of wanted to have a cool, relaxing summer. "Alright I'll go... besides what's wrong with meeting my granddad? Only ONE adventure got it?" Rookies voice was stern in the last bit of her speech but Fern didn't care. She was so excited, Finally she's not going alone in this epic journey! Fern went upstairs and started to change and pack her stuff. Inside was 2 bottles of water, bandage, plasters, 2 chilli heatwave Doritos, one Aloe Vera drink, A torch and one packet of custard cream biscuits. She hurried downstairs and went to kiss her mom. "Woah there where do you think your going?" Her mum said puzzlingly. Fern got out her letter and showed to her mum. Awkward silence.... "hmmm okay, I don't know who this person is but yeah go ahead, you can go and see him if you want". Fern squeaked with joy and open the door to feel the cool summer breeze of adventure.
"Ready?" Said Rookie
" ...ready" replied Fern
