Diabetic Dreams

Jared let out a heavy sigh as he fell back onto his couch after a long day filming. He quickly pulled out his phone and quickly video chatted Kelsey. It felt like ages as he waited to see her face pop up on the screen. He couldn't help but smile as Kelsey answered. Kelsey smiled and said," Let me get the kids. They're all making s'mores in the backyard. I had to go foraging for some marshmallows. How was filming today?" Jared rolled his eyes as he thought about filming today. It had been  a day full of vampire scenes. He rubbed a hand down his face as he said," It sucked but my day is definitely better now. I'm looking at one hot mama!" Kelsey blushed as she sat at the kitchen table. She smiled as one hand instinctively went to her nineteen week baby bump. She gently rubbed her belly as she said," Oh shut up. I haven't had to even try to put on some makeup today. I know I look like a mess. Odette was attached to my leg today. Shep and Tom have been team terror all day, I haven't seen so much mud before in my life. And poor Noah, his uncle Dom took him camping and he broke his wrist mountain biking. They're on their way home now. Luckily Daneel brought JJ over and we ordered pizza, so now I can put my new kankles up." Jared chuckled as Jensen walked in with Chinese take out and plopped down beside Jared. Jensen smirked and said,"Hey Kels!" Jared punched his shoulder as Kelsey gave him a quick hello. Jared stood and walked to the kitchen and as she said," Well enough of my complaining. I give the kids the phone so you guys can talk." Jared just nodded as Kelsey slowly got up and headed outside. She handed the phone to the kids and they all crowded around it, talking to their dad and in JJ's case her uncle. Kelsey sat down with Daneel, as she rubbed her belly. Kelsey frowned as she closed her eyes, feeling a dizzy spell coming. She rolled her eyes as she figured her sugar was low. She shrugged it off as she quickly stood back up and walked back to the fire with the kids, ready to make her a smore.

The next morning Noah woke up to being shook by little Odette. He smiled at her and sat up as he said," You're up early." Odette just nodded as she pulled herself up on the bed. Noah stretched his arms out as Odette said," I tried waking Ms. Kelsey but she wouldn't wake up." Noah's eye grew as he quickly ran down the hall to her room. His Aunt had always been a light sleeper, why didn't she wake up. Noah quickly opened the door and saw her laying on her side and eyes closed. He gently shook, only for her eyes to slightly twitch. He began yelling," Aunty! Aunty, wake up. Come on, wake up!" He pulled back the covers hopefully to help her wake up, nothing. He pulled the phone from his pocket and quickly dialled 911. He turned to find all three Padalecki kids curiously watching. He blinked away tears as he said," Shep, take Tom and Odette downstairs and call Aunt Daneel. Her number's on the fridge. Tell her Kelsey's really sick and that I'm calling an ambulance for her now!" Shep quickly took charge and dragged his siblings downstairs and grabbed the house phone. He kept talking to the 911 operator as he kept shaking his Aunt. Wanting and praying she'd wake up. It wasn't long before Daneel got there with the Ambulance in tow. Daneel ran up the stairs with the paramedics following behind her. Daneel quickly ran into Kelsey's room, finding a sobbing Noah shaking Kelsey screaming for her to wake up. Daneel pulled Noah from Kelsey as the paramedics went to work. Daneel pulled out her phone and called Jared.

Daneel sat with Noah in the waiting room at the hospital. After calling Jared, Jared had called his mom and in the matter of minutes she came and grabbed the kids. Daneel rubbed a hand up and down Noah's back as a man in in a white lab coat came out and said,"Saddler Family?" Noah and Daneel stood up and practically ran to him. He gave them a reassuring smile and said,"She and the baby are perfectly fine. Basically her sugar bottomed out. Her insulin pump malfunctioned during the night, and didn't give her what she needed so went into a diabetic coma. I want to keep her asleep for the the next couple hours, make sure everything's okay, then keep her for a few day to monitor her blood sugar. I'll have someone come get you when they have her settled in her room." Daneel nodded and reaches to shake his hand. He nodded back and gave her hand a firm shake as she said a quick thank you. Daneel and Noah walked back over to their chairs and sat down. Daneel frowned and said," I didn't know she was diabetic." Noah nodded as he finally let the tears fall again. Daneel noticed and said," We just got good news. Why are you upset?" Noah wiped at his cheeks as he stood and began pacing. Noah looked up to the at the ugly white ceiling tiles as he said,"I thought she was dead. I thought I lost my mom and my aunt the only family I had left. I'm too young for this. I'm supposed to be at my home with my mom and my dad but you know what?! My dad walked out on my mom when I was barely two weeks old and my mom worked hard so her sister who she raised, could be an amazing doctor. Look where we are now! My mom's dead and my Aunty is upstairs in a diabetic coma. I'm supposed to be partying and having the time of my life but instead here I am mourning over my life!" Noah didn't notice the other people watch him as he screamed and ranted. Daneel's eyes were wide as he  fell back into the chair beside her. Noah  had been holding back for long while.
