he looked down to his feet that were currently covered by a pair of dingy converse. he had just arrived to the shop; home of the java.everyday he did the same thing 'one cup of vanilla bean ice coffee, please'. though this was one of the days that weren't particularly "the same". it was one of the many dreadful parts of his semester, in which his peers pulled their hair out and whined from deadly stress.
and just like every other student, the raven haired boy pulled excessive all-nighters and chugged an ol' cup of joe to keep his body buzzed, to survive a few hours after being up hours past midnight. though of course the beverage was needed daily and hourly to ensure he'd stay wide awake.
jungkook wasn't a stranger to the stress, though he certainly was no where near immune to it. even through all of the successes he had, he always was diagnosed with the same emotion. it was always like the weight of the world was upon his shoulders.
he burned with anxiety, feeling every bit of pressure as he made the mistake of letting his toxic thoughts flow again. though it wasn't a bother for him, this time, since his anxious thoughts were interrupted by a voice. ,,um, sir? what would you like today?"
the voice belonged to and was recognized as hoseok, an employee at the old coffee bar. he and the raven were acceptably close, for acquaintances that saw one another everyday, and exchanged the same words daily.
,,i'd like a cup of vanilla bean ice coffee, please" the boy attempted to show a smile that he hoped didn't appear too awkward. the redhead's expression softened from confusion to a sweet heart-shaped smile, ,,alright, i'm guessing you'd like a double shot of espresso today as well?"
,,yeah, sure" jungkook responded with a small smile once again. ,,alright the total is the same as always, with a reduction of four. since it's exam week." hoseok added just as the latter pulled out his five and a shiny quarter.
the raven was about to put his cash back, when the older decided to pull another surprise as he grabbed the quarter from the latter. ,,and a reduction of one since you trust my coffee so much." the redhead shoved the quarter into his pocket and smiled widely while grabbing a grande paper cup, and busting open a sharpie with his teeth.
,,j-u-n-g-k-o-o-k. hm?" the older gave the boy another cheeky smile before handing the cup to the lanky boy in the back so he could get his drink started. ,,thanks." the younger nodded as the older did the same after him, before gesturing to the short line of people behind the raven. ,,next!"
jungkook could feel his heart metaphorically bursting out of his rib cages, as his thoughts settled to the exam that was ripping apart the boy's mental stability. he never understood why he was sensitive to stress, and it only pissed him off the more he knew he could be feeling something else. or at least thinking of something else.
but he couldn't get rid of it unless he got rid of the source of it all. so he made his way to the same spot he'd always sit at once he got his coffee, which was the only spot that had an outlet.
he kept his head dangled down till he knew he approached "his spot", or what was "his spot".
the moment the raven lifted his head he met the image of a brown-haired man. the initial thing jungkook noticed about him was the soft honey tan skin that complimented his light brown hair. it was more than the shades of light brown, for it reminded him of latte and all the caffeine goodness he fell in love with it. the scarf and over sized coat he wore seemed to be made of silk, as smooth as his gaze when they accidentally locked into his own.
for the first time in forever, jungkook's heart skipped its beat.
he swore he could feel eyes on him as he stood in front of the man, looking up at him through long lashes.
the brown haired boy scanned jungkook's face before turning back to the window to face the morning sky. and the younger was left with the afterimage of the male's dark sparkling eyes.
the corner of the older boys mouth tugged upwards, a smirk now replacing the frown. ,,were you staring?" his deep voice laced with amusement, sending a shiver down the younger's spine.
,,no," the boy spoke quietly as he grabbed at the strap of his book bag, desperately moving it away from his chest. ,,i was just looking out the window..."
,,hm. of course." the brown haired chuckled as he turned himself to face the raven. suddenly, his tanned hand gestured for him to come sit beside him. ,,well the view is much prettier over here." he tilted his head slightly in the direction of his spot. the boy was reluctant to reply, though in the end he did.
,,you're very friendly considering you don't even know me." the boy couldn't help but smirk a bit by the other's forwardness.
,,what can i say, i'm bored." the older replied with a shrug of his shoulders as he watched the boy make his way beside him. ,,even the sky is prettier over here," the tan boy continued as the younger made himself comfortable in the chair beside him. ,,i'm assuming you are also a victim of the exams this week?" he spoke as he averted his eyes from the sky to look at the boy.
,,yeah, unfortunately. how could you tell?" the raven chuckled awkwardly. he didn't want to seem weird or uncool even though the truth was he couldn't hate exams more.
,,the bag, and well.. coffee can keep you up, but it unfortunately can't keep you from looking like you haven't been up for only lord knows how long." the boy answered with a chuckle.
usually the boy could care less about his appearance though the comment sort of did something to him, yet he just nodded lightly and looked down at the surface in front of him. ,,i guess that's true." the boy opened up his bag now and pulled out his laptop and the bulky charger along with it.
,,jungkook, your coffee has been ready for a while" hoseok approached the table grabbing the boy's attention quickly. ,,oh, sorry i never heard you call." the raven apologized and gave him another soft smile. ,,it's alright- oh and good luck!" the redhead smiled as he set the hot cup on the table before making his way back to the front.
,,jungkook, hm, what a cute name." the tan boy complimented as he grabbed the cup and read the name printed on his cup. hearing his own name from the brown haired boy made jungkook's cheeks flush instantly. he prayed the fuzzy morning was foggy enough to hide his embarrassment.
,,thanks." the boy was so focused on plugging up his laptop and pulling up his online exam that he didn't realise the other boy took a sip of his beverage. ,,you don't have bad tastes in drinks either."
the latter turned to see the tan boy setting the cup down while clicking his tongue; trying to savour the aftertaste of the drink. ,,hey," the boy narrowed his eyes at the older as he took his cup back. ,,hands off grandpa." he spoke in a harsh tone, only to mess with the other boy a bit - although he was clearly one or two years older than he.
,,my bad, i was just curious." the tan boy brought his hands up in defense as he apologized. Jungkook couldn't help but internally coo at the bigger male submitting to him so cutely, that is before he quickly question himself for reacting in such a way.
,,what's your name anyway?" the raven asked to keep up the amusing conversation. ,,it's not that important." the boy replied quietly before looking away, which made the change in atmosphere almost unbearable for jungkook.
,,i'm kidding." the brown haired teased with a long rectangular smile. The boy pushed himself up his seat before turning to the younger and stretching his mouth open to speak only to be interrupted.
,,taehyung, here's your caramel macchiato with a sprinkle of cinnamon powder." hoseok interrupted as he set the cup in front of the tan boy.
,,hm. cute name."
