"Alex!" I say excitedly into the phone. "We're going to that party, right?"
Alex groaned, "well, last time I checked, Miles Harrison personally invited us, so fuck yes are we going".
I heard Alex's mom scold her in the background for her language. I'm so glad I don't have Alex's mom-she gives her no freedom.
"Want to come over?" I ask sympathetically.
"Well yeah, I would, except that my mom has just fuckin grounded me for two days". I heard a rush of voices again, "make that three" Alex groans again.
I smirk, Alex never listens to anyone. "Good job the party's on Saturday".
"Yup. I gotta go, I've still got some dumb project to do and netflix is calling. See you later".
"Bye" I chuckle and put the phone down. Alex always makes me laugh.
My mom comes into my room without knocking, something she always does despite how many times I tell her that privacy is an actual thing.
"Hey, good day at school?" Mom smiles at me as she folds my clothes neatly and puts them in my closet.
"Yeah. I got invited to a party." I shrug.
"Ooh, whose party?" My mom winks embarrassingly at me.
"Just some guys" I lie.
"Did he invite you himself?" Mom asked.
"Yeah, it was kind of embarrassing" my face goes red when I remember the way I acted.
"That's so sweet hun". Mom smiles at me, and I cringe.
"It's definitely not like that" I say, even though I am confused about it...Miles was so sweet, saying excuse me instead of jut butting in to mine and Alex's conversation like Cameron did.
Argh god, now I'm comparing them. Great.
I frown "am I allowed to go?"
Mom thinks for a minute. "No drinking, no smoking, no unprotected se-"
"Ew Mom! I get it!" I hug her. "Thanks for letting me go".
Mom sighs. "You would have gone anyway. Knowing you, you would have sneaked out of the bloody window". She plays with my curly hair. "You look nice, all dressed up. What's it for?"
"No one" I keep a straight face. "God, I must look really bad the rest of the time if everybody acts like this when I do put some make up on".
She studies me, then smiles. "Let's just say that he's a lucky guy, whoever all this-" she indicates what I'm wearing "-is aimed at".
She shoots me a cheeky smile, then glides out the room carrying the washing basket.
Seriously, sometimes I think my mom is magic.

I open my biology textbook with heavy hands, my brain bored to numbness. I had already done nearly two hours revising of physics, and my brain had turned to mush.
I slam my textbook closed, deciding that I'm not going to learn anything like this.
I jump into my bed, grab my laptop and go on Facebook to see who's online.
There's just the usual crap on my newsfeed-those fucking annoying 'like or your mom will die' stuff and pouting girls selfies.
A little 'ping' tells me I have a message, and I open my messages I see it's from-Miles Harrison?
I open the message and read; hey, just wondering wether you were ok after before
I bite my lip. Should I reply? I decide not too, when another message from him pops up with just a winking face.
Arghhhh. I sigh, and start typing in a boring 'yeah, thanks for asking'.
God Casey, one of the hottest guys in school is talking to you and you can't even have an interesting conversation?!
Another ping! tells me I have another message from him.
good.you comin 2 the party???
I smile a bit, remembering the conversation me and Cameron had before.
Yeah, thanx for inviting me:)
It's fine, i can't wait for it. Its gunna b good;)
I take a deep breath in. Why is he messaging me? I run my hand over my forehead, feeling a headache coming on because of all this thinking. I reply;
Sure,whatever u say:) I gotta go, c u
Bye x
A kiss? This is probably no big deal to Miles but to me this is just weird. I don't even know why he is talking to me- we've never even talked that much, only when me and Ryan were going out.
It seems like ages ago, me and Ryan, but it was only a year ago. It wasn't anything serious-we were both pretty messed up at the time, but it was fun. It was like having a good friend; I told him my problems and he told me his.
When we broke up it was because we decided we were better as friends, although we haven't much talked since then, but the good thing is that it's not awkward between us, so we can still have fun around each other.
I shut my laptop with a bang, and sigh. High school is so bloody complicated. There's always something going on. Sometimes it's just too much.
