THE VIEW FROM HER WINDOW CAN CATCH THE SUN IS ALREADY SETTING.
joey's room is located at the second floor and corner of their house, so she had two windows. the first window is faced at the street, where she had watched the sun set and rise thousand of times. meanwhile, the second window is directly across another window from the house next door.
her next door neighbor is a boy her age and she had a good relationship with him when she was young, but kind of drifted apart when she entered teresa high. it seems like the school sucked her socializing skills towards the opposite sex, but she doesn't mind. she attended the school for almost the rest of her life, almost twelve years in the making; and with this, male personnel were the closest thing she had conversations with, plus her dad. so these days, the only "conversation" that her and her neighbor have is the small goodnight they share as they both close their curtains when they are off to sleep.
coincidentally, her study table is right in front of the window that is across her neighbor's, but thankfully, his curtains are drawn and the lights are all closed. she likes her window open whenever she studies because somehow, the fresh air cools her mind whenever she wants to give up. yeah, it was awkward whenever her neighbor had his curtains are open and they could watch each other. she would draw her blinds, but it was a bit annoying because it sometimes distracted her.
"yo, joey," she hears the voice behind her door, accompanied with three short knocks. "are you still awake?"
"what do you want?" joey sighs, rubbing her eyelids because the drowsiness is already coating her body. she wants to sleep, but she has to finish what she's doing.
"nothing," she hears her older sister reply. "i was just making sure you are still alive."
"i'm clearly awake, so can you leave me?" joey shouts back to be heard by her sister. footsteps could be heard afterwards and joey gets her silence.
she's busy rewriting her notes and she just wants everything done. seeing the notifications appear on her phone, she takes a peek. it's all from her classmates and their groupchat, asking for reviewers from their tests tomorrow.
joey doesn't really study. she's surprised that she could still pass a test even though she didn't even study. many think that her rewriting her notes is a form of studying, but for joey, it's simply transferring her notes into another notebook in a much neater way. others think that she's just smart, but joey thinks that it's purely coincidence that she could remember important bits and pieces of their lessons. she would just either listen to the teacher, but her attention span doesn't really last long, so she's surprise that she could do well and get average scores.
once her hand starts to hurt, she closes her pen and jumps to her bed, wanting to get her rest for the next day of school.
!
"so, how did the theology test go?" rafaela asks, as her and joey roam around the third floor as they have a morning vacant together. paula and the others decided to stay in their classroom and watch a movie, even though it was strictly prohibited. they could be seen in the big window yet slightly tinted that their classroom had. although, so far, they haven't been caught yet.
