Fun Fact #5
Over 296 people have died while attempting to climb Mount Everest.
A majority of these deaths have been caused by avalanches, frostbite, exposure to the elements, or general bad decision making as the body weakens or can't acclimatise to the atmosphere.
2015 holds the most recorded deaths on Mount Everest so far, with 18-22 people dying that year.
A lot of the bodies remain on the Mountain until today, as attempting to retrieve them would be too dangerous.
This makes it possibly the largest "open air mass grave".
Would you like to climb Mount Everest someday?
