Violet's POV:
Monday came quickly but I didn't mind. I was actually excited to hangout with Arrow between classes. "What are you having for lunch?" He asked me curiously as we got in like in the cafeteria. "Probably a chicken salad wrap and some chips." I replied loud enough over all the loud conversations going on. The cafeteria was way more packed than usual, because it was raining like crazy today. There were even a couple rumbles of thunder. "That sounds good. I might get that too." He said. After ordering our food we waited for a bit before they finished making it in the kitchen. Then I suggested going to the library to eat so we didn't have to put up with all the annoying people. We walked to the back of the library where they had some lovely dark colored wooden tables and chairs. I sat my styrofoam container down on the table and sat my backpack down next to me on the floor as I sat down.
The sound of typing on keyboards was prominent, but it was way more relaxing than the chaos of the cafeteria. "I really don't wanna go to American History. I might actually fall asleep." He said, which made me laugh quietly. I didn't wanna get kicked out of the library for laughing too loudly. "I almost fell asleep last week. Professor Till is probably the most boring teachers I've ever had." I replied, and he agreed. We ate as we talked about our classes and the fact that September was flying by. After this week it would be October. After I finished eating lunch I got started on my homework. Arrow and I helped each other with our math homework even though we don't have the same teacher. Rain started pouring down. It was raining so heavy that it was actually beating on the glass windows of the library. "It's raining cats and dogs out there." Arrow said in a hushed tone. "I know. Thank god I brought my umbrella with me today." I said. "I wish I would have brought mine now." He said with a sad look on his freckled face.
The thought of getting soaked with rain would have made me feel sad as well. Eventually it was time for us to go to our American History class. We threw our trash away after packing up everything. The two of us took our seats and waited for the teacher to show up. Students came in and took their seats and professor Till came in, closing the door behind him. After taking roll call he started the lesson. We were supposed to take notes, but I wasn't really paying attention. My mind was on Richard instead of the boring monologue professor Till was doing on the Boston tea party. I really wished I would have passed Richard in the hallway or anything just as long as I got to see him. "Violet. Violet!" I heard, and it made me jump slightly. When I came back to reality I noticed that professor Till was looking at me along with everyone else. "Sorry, professor. I zoned out for a second." I said, feeling my face heat up with embarrassment. "Well, make sure it doesn't happen again." He replied rudely before going back to what he was talking about.
I rolled my eyes and pretended to be paying attention as I mindlessly took notes. I was so damn happy when the class ended so I could actually do something interesting. "He just did that to embarrass you in front of everyone. You have no idea how bad I wanted to punch him in the face." Arrow said as he and I walked towards our creative writing class. "Don't worry about it. Everyone in that room thinks he's a joke anyway." I replied. "I know, but it just made me so mad. If he wasn't so fuckin boring maybe his students would actually pay attention to him." He said as we walked into our next class and took our seats. I agreed as I turned on the computer in front of me and logged in. Today our recent short stories were due; deep down I was excited for professor Jenkins to read it. Since I was thinking about my story I opened my backpack and retrieved my assignment. "Holy hell! You wrote a novel!!" Arrow said, looking at the stapled papers I had sat down on the desk. "I didn't mean to make it this long, but I got carried away." I said with a slight laugh. More people came into the room and sat down in their usual seats.
Professor Jenkins came in a few minutes before the class was supposed to start. Then he took roll call to see who was here and who was absent. "I can't believe it. Everyone's here for a change." Mr. Jenkins said and a couple of people laughed lightly. It is pretty rare for everyone to show up after the first couple of days. Most of the time there's at leas one person absent. But I guess everyone showed up to turn in their stories today. After we turned in our work he had us start reading a new book. Once we finished it we were supposed to write a little review. A House With A Clock In It's Walls is a small little novel, so I figured I'd probably finish reading it before the end of the day. The entire room was in silence as everyone read. The only sounds were page turning and the occasional sniff or cough. When the class period was over I had just three chapters left in the entire book, so I made a mental note to finish it when I got home. "Don't forget to write your review!" Professor Jenkins said as everyone quickly packed up. Arrow and I left the classroom. I walked with him towards the art, theater, and music wing of the college.
