Harry POV
I had no idea what that fairy was doing to me... At the beginning of the month I was determined to get out of this damned preppy school, but now I was on my best behavior to stay. It was Terry's fault, I'm sure of it. She must have put some sort of spell on me, but then again if she did I wouldn't have thought of it. Dad taught me enough about spells for me to know all the terms and conditions. No, these were different feelings. I've never experienced them on the Isle before and I'm pretty sure they aren't planning on passing by any time soon.
I looked it up online and found the symptoms I've been having: sleepless nights, appetite loss, weird tingly feelings in my stomach and sudden ADHD. Well, I haven't had a decent night's sleep since we arrived here and I still blame the soft bed. I'm not used to the fancy and rich food they served here, even less the sweets and candy. That would explain the appetite loss. My mind always seemed to wander during class and the tingly feeling in my stomach only popped up when Terry was nearby. See, nothing to worry about.
I made my way to Terry's room for our daily class. She texted me that she was coming down with a cold and couldn't leave her bed. However, she didn't want to fall behind on our work and told me to come to her room today. I've never been in the girls' side of the dorms since the day she showed us our rooms, let alone INSIDE of her room. I had no idea what to expect. Maybe a massive flower for her to sleep on and furniture made of twigs and sticks. That was a little bit stereotypical. I knocked on the door and waited for her to invite me in. I may be a pirate, but I still had some respect for girls. A faint 'come in' came from the other side and I entered.
The room was a reality version of Terry's personality. The walls were painted a mixture of apple and lime green with splashes of blue, like her eyes. Her furniture was made out of dark, polished wood and tiny white flowers climbed and crawled over and around it. Her bookshelf and desk was hidden underneath all kinds of interesting stuff; old music boxes, chipped porcelain ornaments, shiny rocks and crystals, empty vintage perfume containers, broken jewelry and more. Finally my eyes found my little fairy in her bed, wrapped in leaf-like blankets. She really was sick. Her face was pale, her nose and eyes red, her lips chapped and her hair pulled up in a messy bun. On her bedside table, lined up like my crew when I bark orders at them, stood bottles of medicine and herbs, a wet piece of cloth, tissues and a tall glass of untouched water.
"Hey." She whispered and managed a weak smile, "Just sit over at the desk and keep your distance. I don't want to make you sick as well."
I watched her struggle to reach the tissues before snapping out of it and handing her the box myself. She smiled gratefully and instantly the tingly feeling in my stomach returned. Terry, however, didn't look good at all. I lightly placed my hand on her forehead and discovered that she was burning up. My head worked over time and I grabbed the wet piece of cloth and draped it over her head.
"Harry, you don't have to do this." She coughed more than spoke, "What if you get sick?"
"Then I'll just need a fairy to take care of me." I answered with a smile.
She wanted to speak again, but broke out in a coughing fit. It was so bad that she had to sit up to breathe. I handed her the glass of water and helped her drink it slowly. Her coughing died down slightly and she inhaled slowly to control her breathing.
"You know, we were supposed to learn about following the rules today." I spoke softly as she looked up at me, "But I think we should skip the lessons for today. You're staying in bed and I'm taking care of you."
She could only nod slowly and close her eyes. So I took a seat next to her on the bed and tucked a few strands of blonde hair behind her ear. Her body was ice cold while she was coming down with a fever. She shivered and curled up in a little ball against me. A strange feeling developed inside me and I suddenly experienced the protective feeling I only once had when I was still in Uma's crew. The feeling to protect my captain turned into a feeling to protect my fairy, even if it was against a cold and fever.
