It's 11:38 P.M. Finally growing tired, I go through my pre-sleep routine of checking all locks on all doors and windows and then trudge down the hallway to my cozy bedroom. Against the right wall are two windows, one of which hangs just above the foot of my bed which is in the far right corner.

My eyes less than half open, I trip into my pajamas and crawl into my sheets. Not long after I drift into a deep sleep.

My eyes snap open. My gaze lands on my alarm clock.

3:34 A.M. it reads, a glowing halo of light in my near pitch black room.

I groan and shut my eyes in an attempt to fall back asleep, but to no avail.

After what feels like hours I finally decide some fresh air could be relaxing and might help me, so I inch myself to the foot of the bed and thrust open the window.

I stick my head out it and breathe in deeply.

A thought crosses my mind. How can I put my head out the window when there's a screen on it?

I look down and see the remnants of the metal wire that was across the glass pane, now cut down to mere slivers.

                Something rustles behind me.

A/N So cliche. Might make a better one later today. Oh look that rhymed.
