Chapter 7~

        Eren, MIkasa, Armin, Me, Reiner, Bertholdt, Sasha, Connie, Land, and Janny stand in a straight line, shoulder to shoulder, facing the rest of the cadets. I guess only some of them are cadets, some of the others have already done this before, so they wouldn't really be "cadets". I mean, technically they would, because that's their title while they're in training, but they're already experienced. A lot of people failed out on purpose so they wouldn't have to join again, but there were still many brave souls who decided to keep fighting for humanity. It's around 7PM, Shadis stands behind and we're patiently waiting for the cart to come pick us up and take us to the Scout Regiment base. Most of us look down, not knowing if we're allowed to talk or not. Eventually, we all hear the soft clops of a horse's hoofs echo throughout the field, and elevate in sound. I don't know who's controlling the cart, I've never seen him before, but it doesn't matter. We all watch as Commander Erwin and Captain Levi hop off of their horses and stare at us, looking as stern as ever. Everyone in the top ten line, except Land and Janny, immediatley salute, to which the Commander and the Captain salute back. They flick their gazes to Land and Janny, who also fumble to quickly get their salutes up. When they do so, the Captain nods and looks at the Commander,

"Those two are the new Cadets."

The Commander nods, and gestures towards the cart, indicating for us to get on. One by one, we hoists ourselves up and take a seat. I watch as Land and Janny nervously sit down and look down, not saying a word. Tch, way to go Captain Levi, you already scared the new recruits. Levi and Erwin climb onto their horses and begin to trot in front of the cart, leading the driver. Everyone was silent, and It was pretty awkward. I guess I can try to converse with Land and Janny..,

"The Captain."

Land and Janny look up with slight confusion.

"Does he scare you?'

Janny nods, but Land doesn't say anything or do anything. Me and Janny watch him, and eventually he nods slowly.

"Don't worry, he's a nice one.. sometimes. And he's all we got, so at least try to warm up to him? He won't warm up to you that quickly, though."

Land and Janny nod again. Geez, they're scared to hell, they wont even talk to me.

Captain Levi glances over at us, I guess he heard us talking about him. Wolf ears or something, sir?

"Calm down, recruits. Handle this, it only gets worse from here."

Land and Janny shoot nervous looks at each other, then at me.

"Way to brighten the mood, Captain." I say to him

"Quiet." That's his response. Alrighty then. Even though the Captain instructs us to be quiet, most of us disregard his order and begin to chatter a bit. Such rebels. He doesn't mind, though. I'm sure he was only saying that to me anyways.~

        ~We were near the base now, and as the cart trots down the streets of the district, I heard a little kid try to whisper to him mom, but failing,

"Mom, are those the new people that will save us??" The kid tugged on his mothers dress, and she bent down to look at him, but turning to give us a grimace look,

"..Hopefully, Rai. Go play with your brother now." The kid takes one last look at us, and when he catches me looking at him, he grins widley at me and waves enthusiastically. I smile back and flick my hand upwards at him. The mother gives me a look, I can't tell of what though. Disgust? Hope mingled with fear? A cry for help maybe ..for help to save them from the tragedy that's happening right now. She quickly ushers the boy back insider her home, and she takes one last glance at me, but quickly turns back around to finish her chores. The rest of the ride was filled with murmurs of,
