Chapter 6~

BAM. Yet, another sound effect. What in the ever fucking love of Jesus was that? I turn to look at the doorway, seeing everyone else was doing so too. Why do I always get woken up very early now? I shut my eyes as the lights flicker on, but slowly open them, letting them adjust to the new light. I squint hard at the doorway. Shadis? What's he doing here at, I look at the clock on the wall, 4:44 in the morning?!

"If you were chosen as a top 10 , stand up and come with me." He says, waiting for us. Me, Eren, Connie, Bertholdt, and Reiner quickly get up and follow Shadis out the door.

"Uh, sir?" Bertholdt speaks up as we're walking down the stairs, and everyone shoots him a 'Are you crazy?!' Look, but he ignores it and continues after gulping, "Where are we going, exactly, sir?"

Shadis said nothing. Bertholdt shot me a nervous look, and I just shrugged and kept following the instructor. Eventually we reached outside, and outside were all the other top 10 people. Mikasa, Armin, Sasha, Land, and Janny were out there waiting patiently for the rest of us, I guess. We all cluster up, and there's slight murmers of confusion,

"What's going on?"

"What's this about?

"Should I be sca-"

"SILENCE." The instructor's voice rings throughout the whole field, and so does his loud foot stomp that he added. We do as we're told and quickly face forward to look at him, standing in our salute position.

"You all have to make a choice, now."

We look at one another, Land and Janny begin to sweat a little. I think we all know what we have "Decide now" but still, It's frightening for the others. I don't blame Land or Janny, it's their first time here, but then again, It's only my second time here, and I can't say that I'm not scared about what's about to happen. Reiner is the bravest to speak up, and quickly says,

"A choice about what, sir.."

"Don't play dumb, boy! You know what. Choose now. All of you."

Reiner gulps and looks around at the others, as if asking for help. Land clears his throat slightly, and the instructor immediatly flicks his cold gaze to stare at Land's soul,

"Sir, why must we choose now?"

The instructor glares at him for what seems like hours, for Land at least. After about 3 minutes of staring back at the instructor, I guess Land noticed the sweat drop that dripped off his chin, and he broke eye contact with Shadis to glance around at everyone else staring. Bad idea, Land ..

"LOOK AT ME, BOY." Land jumps and whimpers a bit at the words, but quickly stares back at the Instructor, continuously swallowing hard, and eventually, Shadis breaks eye contact with him. I can hear him release a soft sigh of relief.

".. You're choosing now because the Scout Regiment is going on a missoin pretty soon which requires more soilders. Have you all decided now?"

"Ye-" We started, but got interuppted.

"You better have. Go to my right for Scout Regiment, Left for Military Police."

Land and Janny sort of panic, twitching to the left, then twitching to the right. Me, Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Reiner, Bertholt, and Connie keep a straight face and push past Land and Janny, heading towards Shadis's right side. Land and Janny stare at each other for a moment, everyone having their eyes on them is probably putting so much pressure on them. They have tears in their eyes ..I can't believe they're almost crying. Maybe it was because of everyone staring at them, or maybe because they know if they join the Scout Regiment, they'll soon go into a mission, whatever the reason is, I can't really just stand here and not feel bad. I didn't even notice what I was doing, but I untangled myself from the bundle of people who want to join the Scout Regiment and start walking towards Land and Janny. They just look up at me and almost cry. I bite my lip and whisper an only audible to them soft phrase,

"Scout Regiment.. ?"

They look at each other again and slightly nod.

"Come on.." I say to them and turn to walk towards the group again, but I notice that Eren and the others are staring at them, and I turn around. They haven't moved an inch. I sigh softly and make my way back. When I get there, I get inbetween them and without even thinking, take Land's right hand in my left, and Janny's left hand in my right and begin pulling them to the group. They finally budge, but only because I'm forcing them too move, if I hadn't, they'd probably still be standing there like statues. Everyone watches as I drag them to the group, and when we get there, I still hold their hands, giving both of them a tight, reassuring squeeze. Honestly, I did believe they were going to be nervous, but I never thought they'd be on the verge of crying. I take quick glances at them, and notice that the tears in their eyes have gone away, almost as soon as I have taken their hands into mine. They just need reassurance. Shadis looks at all of us and closes his eyes, nodding.

"I see.." He says quietly.
