It was a common occurrence in Mapleleaf School to see a crying Shen Yue. And today is no different than any other day.

Yue can still hear the boisterous laughter of the basketball varsity team. How she hates all of them especially their captain Dylan Wang.

He is the bane of her existence.

Yue stopped running when she felt a shortness of breath. She's having an asthma attack again.

"Where's your inhaler? Here let me." Darren searched her backpack for her inhaler.

A few puffs and Yue felt better.

"Thank you, Darren. You always arrive at the exact moment when I need you."

"Dylan and his bunch of scoundrels teased you again?"

Yue just nodded.

"Don't worry. I will teach him a lesson. I should have done that a long time ago."

"What are you saying? Do not get entangled with them. Especially him. Look, you are my friend and I love you. But there is no way you can possibly win over him. I mean...."

Darren rolled his eyes. He knows exactly what Yue means. He is thin and looks frail when compared to the great Dylan Wang.

"There are so many ways to beat Dylan you know. Just wait. He will get what he deserves for being a jerk."

"What are you saying? Never mind them. I will be okay. Besides, school vacation starts the day after tomorrow. So I can finally breathe easy."

"You are way too kind Yue," Darren said as he took Yue's arm to guide her to their classroom.

As much as she wanted to hate Dylan, she can't.

She's hurt more than anything.

They used to be inseparable but everything changed when they started middle school.

Yue always thought that they will be best friends forever. But since middle school, they have drifted apart. Dylan now hangs with the "cool crowd" since he's the campus superstar, while she is the campus nerd.

But Yue was not surprised. She and Dylan were the exact opposite of each other. While Dylan was confident and loud, she was shy and quiet. He is so shuai, while she's just plain looking.

At least that's how she finds herself. She wouldn't believe even if Xiao Wen and Darren always say that she is beautiful. They were her friends. Of course, they'll say that.

And she couldn't ask for better friends than the two of them.

Yue was so absorbed in her conversation with Darren that she's oblivious to the pair of eyes looking at them from afar.

Dylan Wang.

He regrets teasing Yue. He always does. He just can't stop especially since she's always ignoring him.

Plus he has to look cool in front of his friends.

They used to be friends. Hell, they were best friends since they were children. And they live next to each other too.

He remembers seeing her for the first time when they moved from Shanghai. He's only seven years old then and he thought she was an angel. She looked lovely wearing her pink tutu.

She's waiting for her driver to arrive to take her to her ballet class.

He approached her and it was evident she was too shy to talk to him. But when he was able to coax a smile from her, he was captivated.
