Elizabeth and Lucas walked in silence for what seemed like forever. Elizabeth didn't remember the walk to the pool this long! She also didn't realize how cute he was. She was cut off from her train of thought when Lucas broke the awkward silence.
"So, how old are you?" he asked.
"Me?" Of course you Elizabeth you're the only one he's talking to. She thought to herself. "Oh, I'm sixteen, what about you?"
"I also happen to be sixteen," Lucas answered. "You know you seem pretty short for your age, could have mistaken you for a ten-year-old. What are you, 4'8?" he laughed.
"Oh hahaha," Elizabeth mocked. "I'm 5'2 for your information, but I probably seem so short because you're like a giant!"
He laughed, "Well for your information I'm 6'0. It's okay you're short though because it's kind of cute when you're mad."
Wait a minute, was he flirting with me? Elizabeth thought to herself. As much as I liked this, this could not happen. Nope as much as I don't remember blacking out, I do remember he told me he was a Leo and I am a Capricorn.
(Probably will put in earlier in the story)
These colonies that they speak of are the Zodiac colonies. They do not mix. See, there are 12 signs (Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces) and they all live on four islands. The signs are separated into the four islands by the four elements (fire, air, water, and earth). So the fire signs, which are Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius live on one island. The air signs, which are Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius live on the next island. Then the water signs, which are Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces live on the other island. Then lastly the air signs, they are Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn, which live on the last island. Now although they all live separated, they still depend on each other. Fire and air strengthen each other and water and earth strengthen each other.
Now that is settled, to compatibility. Your sign is compatible with the signs of the same element and two of your strengthening signs. For example, a Gemini is compatible with its two other air signs which are Libra and Aquarius and is also compatible with two of its strengthening signs, which is Aries and Leo. Now as a Capricorn, I am compatible with Taurus, Virgo, Scorpio, and Pisces. In nowhere in that list does that say, Leo. After recalling all that information, they arrived at the pool.
"Elizabeth, welcome back!" Cassidy teased "Spent a long time in the restroom I see."
"Actually, I never used the bathroom." Elizabeth glared, "I think I blacked out. Thanks, no need to worry or anything." she said sarcastically.
"Wait...what?" Charlotte joined the conversation.
"Yeah, I don't have any clue as to what happened. All I know is that I was in the empty lobby and then everything went black. Then when I woke up it was full and Lucas found me on the floor," Elizabeth explained.
"Who's Lucas?" Cassidy questioned.
"What do you mean? He's right," Elizabeth paused when she looked to the side of her and Lucas wasn't there. She looked around for who she thought was standing right next to her. She found him in the distance talking to a shorter, older man. Now, realizing they weren't talking much rather arguing.
"Hold on, give me a second." Elizabeth told Cassidy and Charlotte. She walked towards the arguing men, but stopped far away so she wouldn't interrupt them. She tried not to eavesdrop, but it seemed like the words coming out of their mouths' were the only words she could hear.
"She's just a friend, I just met her." Lucas said.
"That's how it always starts and at home that may be okay, but she's a Capricorn," the man replied.
Elizabeth realized they were talking about her. He must have seen Elizabeth and Lucas walk in together. With her mother being the Leader of the Capricorn Colony she had a pretty recognizable face.
"Who said I liked her?" Lucas exclaimed, "Why can't I just be friends?"
"Well all I'm saying is she is indeed a Capricorn, they are stubborn girls, be careful with her," The man warned.
"Okay, I will, even though there is nothing to be worried about," Lucas remarked. "Wait, what if I did like her! Why can't it be, everyone can like whoever they want?"
The man was silent for a bit before he said, "Because we aren't compatible like that, it will never work. Capricorns are practical, stubborn, and pessimistic. Us Leo's are energetic, optimistic, and egotistical. It just wouldn't work," The man explained.
"So because we have certain flaws you are saying, we just don't even try to work it out. That's what it is right?" Lucas clarified.
"No son, it's more complicated than that," The man argued.
Just then everyone heard a splash in the pool followed by a faint cry for help, but when looking into the pool no one saw anything. Few people were at the pool, but every person there heard the young girl desperately trying to keep afloat. Elizabeth heard. Elizabeth looked frantically for splashes and bubbles coming from the water. She found the young girl which unfortunately was on the other side of the gigantic pool. She wasn't just going to let this child drown. Not caring what clothes she had on, she dove into the water, swimming towards the commotion. It was quite a far swim. Elizabeth had adrenaline running through her, she had the energy to swim, the child did not. The young girl started to submerge underwater, struggling to keep up. Then the drowning child was picked up out of water being carried back to solid ground by Elizabeth. Groups of people were now surrounding Elizabeth and the young girl. Before, Elizabeth could do anything else Lucas and the man rushed to her.
"Angelina!" The man shouted in worry.
The young girl did not respond Elizabeth took action placing her hands on top of the small girl's chest and started performing chest compressions. At first, there wasn't any response coming from the little girl, but then water started coming out of her mouth. She then started coughing as an instinct to clear the water out of her throat.
"Oh thank heavens, you're okay Angelina!" Lucas said relieved
You could see the girl was confused and overwhelmed by all the people when she started crying. She sat there, crying as Lucas' Dad grabbed a towel and then picked her up. Lucas stood up and reassured everyone that she was okay, telling everyone to give her some space. That left Lucas, his dad, Cassidy, Charlotte, and of course Elizabeth in a group.
Everybody seemed to have their attention on the little girl even Elizabeth herself, she barely noticed she was soaked. Lucas noticed, he grabbed her a towel and put it around her. She silently thanked him, focusing her attention back on the girl.
They all were standing up now, the girl was in her father's arms. He was the first person to say something to Elizabeth. "Oh thank you, so, so much," upon his gratitude, he realized who she was.
"You're welcome," Elizabeth paused waiting for names.
"Oh I'm Samuel, this is my daughter Angelina, and as you know, my son Lucas," he answered.
Cassidy and Charlotte simultaneously said "Oh, that's," but did not continue, earning a silencing stare form Elizabeth.
"Well, nice to meet you, Samuel. Is Angelina okay?" Elizabeth asked.
The girl picked her head up from his shoulders and looked at her. She didn't say anything, she didn't do anything, all she did was stare directly into Elizabeth's eyes. Elizabeth gave her a smile, showing her everything was okay. The little girl then picked up her arms towards Elizabeth, cueing she wanted Elizabeth to hold her.
"Thank you," Angelina's small voice said only loud enough so Elizabeth could hear.
"Well, nice to meet you. This is Cassidy, my sister, and Charlotte, my friend," Elizabeth introduced. They all shook hands as Elizabeth gave Angelina to Lucas. Samuel thanked her once again before leaving. Lucas and Elizabeth shared a small smile as he walked away. Cassidy and Charlotte went to find Elizabeth some new clothes and Elizabeth went to the showers, realizing she still had to use the bathroom.
