Elizabeth looked around and the only thing she could see was agony. So many people dead. So many people kneeling on the ground, holding their loved one's lifeless body as they were also hurting. She surveyed the area for her dear, beloved sister and friend.
She cried out, "Cassidy! Charlotte!" she attempted to stand, but felt an undeniably sharp pain going through her left leg. She screamed in torturous pain.
"Elizabeth!" Charlotte shouted, "stop trying to stand! You're going to make it worse!" She put Elizabeth's arm over her shoulder, so she could help her to her feet. "We need to get you to a hospital, immediately!"
"No, no, where's Cassidy?" Elizabeth asked drowsily.
"We will find her, but we need to get you help first!" Charlotte ordered.
"No! Where's Cassidy!" she cried, "I, I need Cassidy!"
"I don't know Elizabeth, but we cannot find her if you can't walk!" she yelled.
Elizabeth couldn't keep her eyes open no matter how hard she tried. She knew she was
walking, but did not know where and was just following Charlotte's lead. She could hear the cacophony of people, screaming and crying. She wanted to help every single one of them, but couldn't because she couldn't even help herself. She heard a siren in the distance. The siren multiplied into several loud alarms. The deafening noise made her headache. She could tell she got close to an ambulance, that she was being to be put into. Instead, she heard her mother's crying voice.
"Just help her! Don't lose her! Don't, just don't let her go!" Ava bawled.
As soon as Elizabeth heard her mother say 'her', she lifted her head with her eyes wide
open to see what she was assuming her sister, but all she saw was the back of ambulance doors leaving. She then turned to see her mom wiping away tears.
"Mom? Tell me that was not Cassidy!" she stuttered. "Please tell me that that was not Cassidy in the car, and Cassidy is helping other people because she is perfectly healthy and alive!" She got no response. "Mom?"
"Elizabeth," Ava began to say, but then was cut off.
"No! Mom, please don't say that!" she bellowed.
"Elizabeth! Cassidy is in the car, she's in, she needs help," she managed to say, "Your father went with her."
No words came out of Elizabeth's mouth, instead, she collapsed and went unconscious. She awoke to bright lights, ceiling lights. She was now indoors. She didn't hear any screaming or crying people, no sirens, no pain in her leg. Her eyes adjusted to the lights and she realized she was in a hospital bed. She observed the room, there was a chair two doors, one door leading out to the hallway and the other to a bathroom. There was a window, along with other medical things that she didn't know the name of, nor what they did, on both sides of her. She looked down at her leg that was in a cast. She looked at the other wall and realized that the wall was not a wall, it was a curtain. Elizabeth wanted to open it, but she still couldn't stand. She found a remote on the nightstand that was next to her. The remote conveniently had a button to open the curtains. She thought, hmm fancy. She watched the curtains slowly unravel, anxiously waiting to see what was on the other side. Her eyes widened at what she saw on the other side. There she was, lying on a hospital bed just like Elizabeth's. It was Cassidy. Elizabeth wanted to run to Cassidy and hug her and say so many things, but Cassidy wasn't even awake.
Very shortly Ava walked in, "How are you feeling sweetie?"
"When is Cassidy going to wake up?" Elizabeth asked with concern.
"Before we talk about Cassidy, let's talk about you for a second. How are you feeling? How's your leg?" Ava questioned.
"Never been better," she sarcastically said, with an insignificant smile, "Now how is my sister doing?"
"I'm being serious, do you need me to get you anything? Like a book, some pillows or blankets, maybe even some jello or water?" She asked.
"Okay sorry, can you just get me some water? Elizabeth asked.
"Yes, I will be right back," Ava then left the room.
Elizabeth waited patiently for her mother. In the meantime, she watched her sister. She thought, oh Cassidy why can't you just open your damn eyes, like I knew you were lazy, but dang I have a broken leg and it seems you, she paused, realizing she doesn't have anything broken, she isn't dead because her heart monitor is still beeping, so what could be wrong with her? The door swung open, instead of her mother, a familiar man walked in.
"It sucks, doesn't it? Watching our sister in a coma, not knowing when she will wake up?" It was the man who started this all. It was the strange man that got kicked off the boat, which was the same man that stole the siphoning stone.
"You, it's, it's you," Elizabeth stuttered, she was in shock by his appearance, that's when she processed what he said. "Did you just say she is in a coma?" She shouted a little too loudly.
"Yeah, I'm surprised mom didn't already tell you." He said as if his appearance was normal.
That's when more words started to come together "Did you just say 'our sister' and refer to my mom as both our mother?" Elizabeth questioned frightened more than ever.
"Oh yeah, let me explain. I was going to wait for Cassidy, but well you know. So I'm your older brother, yours and Cassidy's older brother," he blurted out.
Elizabeth was at a loss for words, "...how?"
"Well little sister, I knew you were a little slow, but if we must go back to the beginning we can. You see when two people love each other very much," he began to explain.
"La, la, la, la, la," Elizabeth screamed closing her ears, "I know how that works! I mean how are you my brother if Mom and Dad only had 2 kids?"
"Oh, simple really. I was born one month earlier making me a Sagittarius. I was put up for adoption, so that's why I do not live with you guys," he explained.
"So why are you," before Elizabeth could continue the door opened, Ava began to walk in and gasped, then dropped the cup of water she was holding.
"Jackson!" she yelled, "What are you, you doing here?"
"Hi mom," Jackson said calmly, "I was just telling Elizabeth about our history."
"Mom! Cassidy is in a coma!" Elizabeth interrupted the conversation.
"Elizabeth not now! Jackson you need to leave, if you thought you could get the stone through my daughters, you are wrong!" she demanded.
"Your daughter is in a coma because of this dumb world we live in! If we just took the powers away, I could be with you guys, as a family!" Jackson urged, "If we take away the powers, no one will ever have to get hurt again! Cassidy wouldn't be hurt. Just help me, it would make up for everything," he pled
"Let's do it," Ava finally gave in, but at the same time happy to see her son again.
