Chapter 7

When the bus arrived at the school doors, Clementine could see Lee smiling widely, with his right arm behind his back, as if he were hiding something.
-Dad!- Clementine said, hopping off the bus.
-Clementine! My sweet pea, how are-
-CLEM!- AJ said, running towards his sister.
-AJ!- the girl replied, kneeling down and hugging the little boy tightly- What's up, goofball?
-Everything's great! I missed you... oh hey, Violet!- AJ said, raising his fist so Violet could bump it, and so she did.
-What's up, kid?
-I'm great!
-So... Clem, how are you? How did it go? I certainly see you a lot happier than when you were gone- Lee said, happily.
-Well. I AM happier... so many things happened...- she said, glancing at Violet and the smirking.
-What things?- Lee asked, raising an eyebrow, to which AJ followed by doing the same and crossing his arms.
    The brunette and blonde girls looked at each other, sharing a caring look.
-Oh, uhm... Lee, I... remember my friend, Violet?
-Yeah, of course! How are you doing, Violet?
-I'm fine... better than ever, actually- the girl replied, blushing at the memories of the day before.
-So... dad... we're not really friends anymore... like... not just friends...- the brunette girl started saying, slowly getting up just to knot Violet's fingers through hers.
-Oh...- Lee raised his eyebrows, but then smiled- sweetpea... I'm so happy and proud of you two! For a second there I thought it wouldn't happen- he chuckled.
-Wait, what?- the teens said, sharing a confused look.
-Did you two really think I didn't notice the way you looked at each other back to when you stayed over? Please, girls, I  might be old, but know a spark when I see it.
-Oh... we... uh...
    Louis, as he stared at the scene, laughed.
-Told ya you two were great!- he said, winking at the girls.
-Oh my god- Violet said, embarrassed, but still blushing.
-Tell you something, kids, why don't we all go grab something to eat? Plus, you'll get to know little AJ here, since you haven't really interacted with him much, it's all on me- Lee said to the group.
-Yeah sure!- Louis said, throwing his arms around Marlon and Brody, while they playfully pushed the girls so they started walking.

Two weeks later

-Oh my god, Violet, I'm way too nervous for this, what if I screw up? What if I trip or I'm not fast enough?- Clementine said, gripping tightly at her bat.
    Violet put her hands on Clementine's shoulders.
-Hey, look at me- the green eyes girl said, calmly- you're the best player, Javi said it, I mean he's the team's coach and he used to be a professional player, I don't think he'd say those words meaninglessly, right?
-I... I guess...
-Go on, you can do it babe.

As the game went on, Louis and Violet talked while also cheering on Clementine at the field.
-So... are you going to ask her?- Louis said, gently nudging Violet's elbow.
-What? What are you talk-...
-Prom, you idiot! Prom's in a month!
The blonde girl raised an eyebrow, confused.
-You've got to be kidding me... you REALLY haven't asked your GIRLFRIEND to PROM YET? VIOLET CARDARELLI- Louis said, dramatically.
-I... of course not! That's... bad?
-OF FUCKING COURSE IT'S BAD YOU DUMBASS!- he yelled, widening his eyes.
-Jesus christ, chill out!- she said- I... I don't know how to ask her... I... what if she doesn't want to?
-You know what, Vi? For being such a smart and capable girl, you can be quite stupid sometimes...
-Hey!- she said, grabbing him by the collar of his shirt.
-Don't hit me! Listen, dude, that girl's crazy about you, and she's always talking about you when you're not around. It's... quite adorable. She told me about this song that reminds her of you... maybe you can use that?
-Really? Thank you, Lou!- Violet let go of his collar, to hug him.
-But it's gonna cost you!
-Oh my god you idiot! I knew you'd say that! - she rolled her eyes- What do you want?
-To let me take a picture of you for Snapchat so everyone can see your love for our little orange here!
-No. Fucking. Way- she said, firmly.
-Don't yo want that song?- he said, with a challenging tone.
-Ugh... fine, just... do it when I'm not looking, please? Makes me feel dumb.
