~Toshinori's POV~

I woke at half past seven and was momentarily worried as to why I'd slept in so late before I remembered that I'd been up half the night for a drug raid and had acquired a ward in the process. As I thought of my ward, I got out of bed and stretched before hurriedly putting on a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt so I was decent.

I exited my room and noticed the door to the guest bedroom was open. I peered inside to find the bed completely untouched. For a split second I worried she'd run away before realizing even if she did, she was wearing a GPS tracker. I just had to check the app on my phone. Before jumping to conclusions, I went to the living room to see if she'd fallen asleep on the couch.

The first thing I noticed was the lack of takeout boxes. The second thing I noticed was how spotless and squeaky clean the kitchen looked. Did I always have marble flooring? As I stepped into the sitting room, I spotted Emi's small frame curled up on the rug in the sitting room. There was a rag clutched tightly in her grasp. It appeared she'd fallen asleep scrubbing out a stain on the carpeted rug.

I shook my head and knelt beside her. Though she wouldn't let me treat her injuries it appeared she'd managed to find a first aid kit and treat them herself for which I was glad. I pulled the damp rag from her hand and set it to the side before scooping her up into my arms. Her skin was pale and cool to the touch. Her head lolled onto my shoulder as I lifted her into my arms and her soft dark ashen brown hair spilled over my shoulder. I couldn't help but smile as she shifted in her sleep, snuggling closer to me. She was probably cold from sleeping on the floor. How long had she been asleep? I hoped she wouldn't get sick.

Looking at the now spotless main room I had a feeling it had to have taken her hours to clean. She couldn't have been asleep for long. "I told you it could wait." I scolded the sleeping girl with a smile as I carried her to the guest room.

Gently, I laid her on the bed. The bandage on her arm looked as if it had started to bleed through. I retreated to the attached bathroom in the guest suite and found a first aid kit. As I carefully unwrapped the bandages she'd sloppily tied around the wound, I frowned. I should have taken her to the hospital, it looked like it could have used stitches. Careful not to wake her, I doctored her wounds and wrapped fresh bandages over them properly thanks to many years of practice. Once satisfied her wounds were sufficiently tended to, I draped a soft fleece blanket over her still frame.

I'd cleared my schedule for the day once I'd been tasked with watching over the girl and had planned on tackling some cleaning myself. Thanks to Emi, there wasn't much left to clean. I spotted the bags of trash piled by the door and carried them to the trash chute just outside the door.

Since there wasn't much to clean, or at least much I could clean quietly enough to not risk waking the exhausted girl, I retreated to my office to read fan mail and look over some potential sidekick applications to expand my Hero Agency.

At around noon, someone rang the doorbell and I winced hoping it wouldn't wake Emi. I left my office and made a mad dash for the door before they could ring it again. The deputy Tsukauchi had sent over to drop off Emi's things appeared with two medium sized boxes in hand.

"Is there more?" I asked curiously wondering if he needed a hand unloading more stuff.

He shook his head. "That's it."

"Thank you." I carried the boxes inside and set them near the fireplace before going to sit in front of the TV with a sigh.

As I was about to return to my office, I paused as I spotted Emi exiting the hallway rubbing the sleep from her slate grey eyes. A faint splash of color stained her cheeks as she met my gaze and she hurriedly looked away from me.
