~Toshinori's POV~
"All Might, is she okay?" Naomasa asked worried as he ran over to me while his officers apprehended the remaining villains.
"I'm not sure." I frowned as I looked at Emi's trembling frame in my arms. She wasn't even conscious and her body was still shaking with fear. The wound on her neck didn't look too deep but still needed medical attention.
Naomasa frowned, worry lines creased his forehead, "you should take her to get checked out." He looked over at the corpse of the villain that had been threatening her life. He'd given the order for the tactical force to take him out once they had a shot. I could see the guilt in his dark brown eyes. "Keep me posted about her condition..."
I nodded and cradled Emi's trembling frame against me before taking off as fast as I could to the nearest hospital. A few hours and some stitches later, Emi still hadn't regained consciousness but the doctors cleared me to take her home as I mentioned her refusal to seek medical attention the last time, she'd gotten injured. I frowned as this thought crossed my mind, I was supposed to be protecting her, yet I'd let her get injured twice now.
When I returned home, I hesitated not sure where to take her, the doctor suggested I keep her under supervision at least until she regained consciousness. She would surely scold me once she was awake for cancelling my public appearances for the day but I couldn't go out until I knew she was alright. I carried her to my small home office and gently lay her on the comfy sofa before pulling a blanket over top of her. The moment I sat down; my phone rang.
I scrambled to answer it hoping it wouldn't wake her, Nighteye's name flashed across the screen. Before I even got a word out, he spoke the moment I picked up.
"How is she?"
"The doctor said she'd be fine physically, I won't know much about her mental state until she wakes up, but she was pretty shaken up." Guilt wormed through me; I'd put her in a scary situation. I was supposed to be keeping her out of scary situations, she'd been through enough.
"I didn't want to say anything before...but..." Nighteye hesitated, "I checked her, with my quirk."
"And?" I asked curiously as I glanced over at her motionless form. She was paler than usual due to the blood loss. She was almost as pale as the white bandages gingerly wrapped around her slender neck.
"I think you should find some other arrangement for her...she's not safe with you." It sounded like it pained him to say it.
"I was starting to think the very same." I sighed. "Maybe I can talk to Naomasa about finding someone else to watch over her."
"If it's not too late already." Nighteye sighed on the other end as something caught his attention, "turn on the TV."
I did as he said and turned the small TV in my office on before hurriedly muting it. It was set to one of the news stations and I spotted footage of today's event. It was the aftermath of it all and the clip was showing me cradling Emi's unconscious form in my arms. If a villain saw that, they'd get the wrong idea. The newscaster wasn't helping with her commentary about the mysterious maiden. She was making it sound fairytale like and reading too much into things. I groaned inwardly; this wasn't good. Emi was already a target for the Yakuza and now with this ridiculous news broadcast she was sure to be targeted by even more villains.
"Nighteye...be honest with me-."
He cut me off with a long sigh, "are you sure you wish to know?"
