I woke up early with my uniform on, ready to take this test without fail, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous. My stomach churned around and my legs felt a little unstable then they should be.
I walked outside and took notice of Levi walking by and that's when I decided to ask what the tests are.
"Levi!" I yelled to get his attention.
He turned around with a bored look but not pissed. I took this as a good sign to ask.
"What are we doing for the tests?" I asked.
"Tch! Should've listened then you would have known, brat!" He scowled.
"But he never said anything about what the tests were." I retorted, not liking his attitude towards me. I don't care what his position is, but that doesn't give him the right to disrespect me!
"Not my job."
"I didn't ask if it was your job or not!" I angrily gritted my teeth as I took a step forward and was about an inch away from his face as I glared daggers at him. "And just because you have a higher authority then me, but that doesn't mean you can disrespect me, understood Captain!" I sarcastically said.
"So you can get angry." He bluntly said in a calm voice.
This took me aback at what he said that I took a step back and peered at him quizzically. "What?"
"You didn't yell at those girls for saying that. I was wondering if you can get angry or just too afraid ." With that, he turned around and left.
"W-wait! I want to know what you mean by that!" I tried to stop him, but he kept walking down the hall and turned the corner.
I ran after him, but he disappeared. He confuses me. Sometimes he seems like a jerk and other times he seems cold, but there he seemed...nice and like he can have feelings and care about a person.
"I swear he's bipolar sometimes." I muttered to myself as I was deep in thought and stared down the hallway where he was supposed to be.
--------------
I was standing in a line with my hand clenched over my heart, representing the salute that we'll give up our lives to save mankind.
Erwin stood in front of us with Levi, Mike, and Hanji behind him;all looking serious. Everyone around me was serious too besides a red-head girl behind me that I learned was named Sasha. I could here her munching on bread and she chews loudly! To the point where I just want to turn around, steal her food, and stomp on it in front of her.
Erwin then explains what's happening. "Cadets! Today, you'll be taking the first test out of three! The first tests is about how fast you can go while preserving your gas! While traveling, it's going to be hard to get all the gas you want for your 3D maneuver gear! The second test is where you'll kill the fake titans and we'll see who can kill the most. Then the last test is about teamwork. You'll team up one-on-one with Levi, Mike, or Hanji and we'll test on whether you can work well with others. That is all! Let the tests begin!"
We all put our gear on and got ready to take off; to win this race, to prove something to everyone else, and to let father know just how of a disappointment I am because I became something I wanted to be and I wanted him to know I've never been so happy.
As soon as Erwin shot the gun, I flew and it felt like I was high. I felt a happiness blossom in my chest and giddy that this was happening. I loved this because I no longer felt trap; it felt like there was a way out as long as I can fly. I began soaring and dodging trees. I would often fly up and preserve my gas by just flying with no cords dug in the trees and just before hitting the ground, I would then fly back up with the help of the gear.
Before I knew it, I made it to the finish line way ahead of everyone else. By the look of everyone's faces, it seems like I did a pretty damn job.
I felt pleased that for once, I smiled softly. This caused everyone else to smile back. All except for Levi, for he just gave me a nod of approval, and weirdly, that made me happy.
