Alex's POV
I looked as Seto ran towards me. I started backing up slowly. When he got closer, I turned around and ran. Ran as fast as my legs could take me. 'No no no no no!' I thought.
The ground was covered with a thin layer of frost as I ran, and it spread across the ground. Like the atom effect. The heavy rain was now only a light drizzle, making it useless when trying to wash away the thin frost.
I suddenly felt something holding me back. I turned around and saw my cloak caught on the branch of a bush. Seto was getting closer. In a panic, I pulled the cloak as hard as I could. It came off, tearing off the corner of the icy fabric. I didn't care. I turned back around and continued running.
I saw a mountain in the distance. Its peak was covered with snow, while the rest was a purplish gray. Maybe, just maybe, I could reach it.
Scratch that. As I ran, There was a sudden drop in front of me. A cliff. That's what I was standing on. I stopped my feet before I could fall over the edge, then looked over my shoulder. Seto was still coming.
I looked back at the mountain and took a step back? Should I?
It was worth a try.
I put my hands at fist by my sides, then shot them out. The fists unrolled, and my fingers spread out. Icy mist flew out of my hands. They created a ten step staircase in front of me. It was covered with spiky frost.
I put my foot on the first step. The frost on most of that step disappeared, revealing smooth ice with a snowflake design where I had step. I looked over my shoulder for a split second before running up the frosty stairs.
As I ran, the ice on the railing and steps smoothed. The stairs would form in front of me, frosty and spiky, Then when I stepped on them, they'd become smooth. I stopped and turned around. Seto was almost to the stairs. "Stay away from me!" I cried out. I shot out my hand, and a small bean of ice came out. A wall of ice spikes grew in front of the staircase.
As soon as I knew Seto couldn't get past it, I continued running. "Alex, please! We can help you!" I heard him shout. I ignored his cry and continued running. I couldn't go back. Ever.
Seto's POV
I watched as Alex ran up the stairs. Her ice was strong. It was useless. Tiny snowflakes started falling from the sky. I sighed, my breath visible. It was freezing out.
I continued to watch Alex, when I realized the corner of her cloak had been torn off. I looked around. "It had to have come off somewhere..." I whispered, then continued to look. I saw an icy piece of fabric caught on a bush. A blast of wind came, blowing it upwards.
I ran towards it and caught it, around when it had flown a bit above my face. I pulled it down to chest level and looked at it. This was definitely Alex's cloak. A tiny snowflake fell on it. The snowflake twinkled like a star, then grew into the fabric. That one snowflake was now a design in the icy cloth.
My eyes widened. "Magic!" I whispered. I ran back to the Team Crafted house as fast as I could.
I needed to know more about this.
