Mitch's POV

I brought the little kitten back home. "Alright buddy. I know you're a cat, and you don't like water. But we're gonna have to give you a bath." I said, setting the kitten on the kitchen counter. Her eyes widened, as if to say Oh hell no. I made a clicking noise with my tongue. "Sorry... Whatever I should name you."

The kitten perked up, then looked around the kitchen. She pointed to a picture on the wall of a star. I looked at the picture, then her. "Oh? You want to be named Star?" She nodded, then made what looked like an R with her paw. "Um... with two Rs?" I guessed. She nodded again. I chuckled slightly. "Okay, sorry Starr. I have to give you a bath. Just behave, okay?"

Starr frowned, then nodded. "Thank you." I said. I filled up the right sink with warm water, since that was the one with no dishes. I put her in the water. It went up to a little below her head. I pulled out the spray thing (Have no idea what those are called :P) and turned the faucet to the left side. "Close your eyes."

Starr closed her eyes tight. "Thank you!" I said, then turned on the water. The faucet started having water pour all over the dishes. I pushed the lever, and water came out of the spray thing. I washed Starr's head off, then turned off the water. "You can open your eyes now."

She slowly opened her eyes. "I'll be right back, Don't run away." I ran up to the bathroom. "I know we still have some cat shampoo from when Adam cat-sitted his aunt's cat." I muttered, digging through the cupboard under the sink. I finally saw a bottle of shampoo with a cat on it, and the words Cat Shampoo+Conditioner. "Yes!"

I pulled out the bottle, then ran back downstairs. Luckily, Starr was still there. I put some of the soap on my hand, then rubbed them together. I scrubbed Starr's fur. The water became slightly more brown. "Wow. You really are dirty, aren't you?" I frowned.

Starr looked up at me with faithful eyes. It was almost as if she was saying "Yes". I had to admit, Starr was smart. Well, for a cat. In fact... She was too smart.

I washed off all of the soap, then drained the sink. "One moment." I went to the cabinet and grabbed a medium sized towel. I pulled Starr out with it as the last of the water drained. She had a relieved look on her face. I smiled. "Happy that's over?" I dried her off with the towel, making her fur fluffy. She mewed, and I laughed. "Ah, I love you already."

Alex's POV

I continued to run up my infinite staircase. Every step made the mountain seem closer. I could never go back now. Not after what had happened. Not after letting my inner beast show.

The small snowflake sprinkle had become a large blizzard. It clouded my vision, but it didn't bother me. The winds whisked through the mountain air. Not long now...
