chapter eight.

mike woke up to the next morning to the sounds of rain against his window.
he smiled and relished in this with y/n snoring against his chest.
mike ran a quick hand through her hair before hearing the clicks coming from his window.
he rose an eyebrow,
staring at the window curiously.
the clicks continued to get louder as he laid in the bed,
trying to ignore it.
it soon became intolerable and mike knew it wasn't rain.
he slowly slid up from under y/n,
reaching his window.
below him was jupiter with a pebble in her hand,
and water droplets sliding off her raincoat.
mike let out a silent groan,
careful not to wake y/n.
mouthing the words,
"go away."
mike closed his blinds and returned to his spot in the bed.
y/n's eyes fluttered open slowly at the movement,
her smile becoming more evident as the two made eye contact.
mike kissed her forehead,
telling her to go back to sleep.
he wrapped his arms around the sleepy girl,
smiling as his life finally began to settle.

the two awoke in the next few hours,
the rain no longer around and the sun shining through his window.
"good morning,"
y/n spoke before stretching the sleep out of her body,
and getting up to go to the bathroom.
"you're always so right, y/n. a perfect morning."'
mike spoke with a chuckle.
after they took turns in the bathroom,
they sat in the bed and made plans for the day ahead of them.
"i haven't seen the gang in a while, mike! we should hang with them today."
y/n smiled as she clasped her hands together.
mike shrugged,
"i don't know. i haven't really been hanging out with them since..."
"yeah. i understand."
y/n nodded before persisting.
"but nows the time to change that. better now than never, right?"
she smiled as she interlocked their fingers.
he took in a deep breath,
nodding his head.
"yeah, yeah let's go."

y/n swung their hands in the humid air as their destination got close and closer.
y/n was filled with excitement,
while mike was trying to find an excuse to go back home.
"calm down. it'll be okay. i'm sure they miss you!"
y/n spoke softly before pressing her lips against his.
the smile danced across his face,
all his worries fading from his body.
"it's just been awkward. i've only seen them once since you left. and then..jupiter kind of-anyways it's awkward."
y/n let out a laugh and squeezed his hand for reassurance,
"relax, my love."
he heard the loud laughs and yells from his once tight group of friends,
drawing closer to them.
y/n stepped through the door and shouted,
"surprise!"
all of them turned around in a hurry,
their eyes wide with surprise as they saw y/n for the first time in a while.
but they were even more surprised as a happy mike stood behind her.
