Sexuality

A/N Okay so this was a reply to a comment thread that didn't really understand what pansexual was... But like I went into a rant about other things too, and it turned out a lot, and it was on my phone so I did not know how many words I was over or needed to shorten in order to post the comment. So now I am posting it on my laptop, and also decided to put the full comment here cause otherwise, it will go to waste.

Okay so I've seen this comment a few times and was gonna leave it alone but I can't... Sorry?

Okay, so bisexuals like two or more genders. They can like anyone on the gender spectrum at all, as can pansexuals. Who likes certain genders is not really a way to tell the difference between bi and pan.

However, that bisexuals tend to like one gender more, like say someone liked girls slightly more than boys. They can still like trans people and any other gender besides male and female.

Pansexuals, on the other hand, don't see a gender... Or that's the easiest way to explain it I guess... We don't really have a preference in which gender we are interested in over the other genders. Hints to why people say pan people are gender blind. Cause whereas bisexuals see someone's gender (as they most likely like one more than the others), pansexuals don't really take your gender in as a 'should I date you or not?' factor...

That could have been a weird explanation, and I feel like most people think the same thing implied on this comment thread before about pansexuals, but you have to go a little deeper than that. In all honestly, sexuality is defined by the person identifying as it. So that is why bi can be explained as so many different things. ANd pansexuality is pretty much just a branch from bisexuality that has been made more specific so that certain people feel better under it. Definitions of every sexuality can be super varied depending on who you ask. Like I'm pan but also with me not seeing gender, it is rare for me to have a crush on someone I'm not good friends with just because I know I feel safe with them and I know how they are. I don't put that under any category to make my sexuality more complex, I just file it under pan too as I know I'm not the only person to feel that way and just expand my sexuality to fit it, instead of adding new names to it that I know are out there.

Pan could literally be anything the person identifies ads it is, and just their own version because everyone is different in their own unique way, and why would you want to stuff yourself in a bubble to force yourself to define with everyone when you can just bend the rules to match yourself and it not even harm anyone? So like any sexuality could be a textbook definition or it could involve the one person's twists and turns to make them feel more comfortable settling down in it.

Just like a room. You don't change the walls and outlines when you move in. You just add your own personal touches and make the room more habitable for you to spend your days there. Also, I got way off topic with where I was planning for this comment to go...

A/N Okay so yeah... I divided them into paragraphs to make it easier for readers to read, but in the comment, it would've been one huge paragraph... Also, I don't think I've ever heard that room analogy like anywhere and I'm super happy I thought of it.
