That boy Naruto Uzumaki, he wears a mask full of happiness as if he doesn't give a care about this world full of pain. But it's only a mask, I can see that much. What does a boy hated by everyone around him have to be happy for?

I was only 5 when I first saw him, mom and I were walking down to the store to get groceries for that night. Mom just finished work at the bakery and dad for coming home from a mission so mom wanted to make him a big dinner. As we were walking, we saw the store keeper throw out a boy with a broom, not wanting to touch him as if he carried a deadly disease with him. The man continued to yell at him cursing at him, telling him that he was a monster.

I didn't understand what was happening at the time, how could I? I all knew was he was a poor boy probably trying to get some food, he wasn't a monster, how could a child be a monster?

I could understand the boy though, his aura was a warm orange color. Orange stood for warmth and determination. Determination for what? "Just watch old man, I'm gonna become Hokage and you'll have to respect me!" the boy yelled back at the man, I stood there shocked and then broke out into a smile. That's how I met Naruto Uzumaki.

That night after dinner I grabbed a book from my fathers bookshelf History of Konohagakure. Naruto was about my age or younger, about 6 years ago on October 10th the village was attacked by a tailed beast, the nine tails. During the attack the Fourth Hokage Minato Namikaze killed the demon but he and his wife Kunshia were killed as well as their unborn baby.

I wasn't dumb, I knew this village had its secrets like all villages, I also knew you couldn't kill a tailed beast. But this village in particular seemed to be hiding their secrets by making it seem they were innocent. My family moved to the Hidden Leaf Village when I was three, I knew what the other villages said out this one. That they were weak, that they value loyalty above all else. But the Hidden Leaf was one of the Five Great Shinobi Nations, so what was their secret? It had to be an act, I knew the true ways of a shinobi after all I wanted to become a shinobi, it was my dream. So I continued to research their history and keep an eye out for Naruto. Naruto was innocent I was sure of it and I was going to prove it.

It was a couple of weeks after the grocery store incident, and it was at the park when I saw Naruto again. My mom was convinced that since I've have been hanging around too many books and scrolls that I was incapable of being an active member of society, so she kicked me out of the house. She told me to make some friends and not to come home untill I did.

I have always been more comfortable around books than real people, people are too troublesome. I sigh walking around the park, the other kids pointed at my hair and called me names. I didn't really care because they were just idiots, uncultured swines if you asked me. They feared the unknown and stay in their comfort zones. They make fun of what they didn't understand. Why else would they treat Naruto like they do? My lips twist in a snarl, here I could be in the library doing research, I was in fact quite close to my answer but here I was in the park. I look over to a bunch of kids gathered around something. Curiosity swam through me, I walked over to to the group.

Ah, so that it

Those bastards! They're picking on my Naruto! Bah idiots, hey Sakura let's make those stupid morons cry. I mean how fun would it be seeing their notty ass faces filled with tears? Let's make them cry for their mommies! CHA!!!

Inner welcome back, haven't seen you in a while. As much as I am glad to see you I'm not going to go save him, I don't need the extra attentions, I'm no hero.

I said while walking away.

But you know Naruto is innocent, he doesn't deserve this. So maybe you aren't a hero but you are a good person. You try to be uncaring but I know you because I am you, you can't hide the truth from me you want to help, so what's stopping you? I know you care, so go back and save him as a friend! SHANNARO!!

I freeze mid step and sigh, she was right of course. I bend down and pick up a couple of pebbles and turn around, I smirk, who knew maybe mom was right, perhaps I could have some fun at the park.

I turn around and aimed for the big, fat bully who was teasing Naruto. With my strength a threw the pebble at him, with a THAWK it hit him straight in the head. CHA, so my aim was getting better, I smile victoriously. The boy started to cry, "Owie, who did that?" he cried at the other boys. It wasn't long before I hit all the other bullies, "Hey! That's enough get away from him!"

"What this monster? Bah he deserves it, you should get away before he decides to go after you too!" Did those pathetic bullies really think that they were doing something noble? Like they were knights saving the damsel in distress from a monster? "Hey girly how about we get something to eat after this?"

CHA! WHO THE F*** DOES HE THINK HE IS? HEY OUTER KILL THIS MOTHER***** DIEEEE!

"Monster? The only monster I see is you. Move along fatty, no one likes a bully," I respond. The boys face went red with anger, "What!! Who do you think you are pink freak!!!"

HELL NO, NO ONE INSULTS MY GLORIOUS HAIR AND GETS AWAY WITH IT, DIEEEEEEEEE

The boy runs to me, attempting to punch me but I was faster. I ducked under his arm, squatted down and brought my leg up to swipe it across, tripping him. Then I stood up and put my leg on his chest and leaned in. "I would leave him alone if I were you. You wouldn't want an accident happening now would you?" The boy feverishly shook his head, "good boy." I let him go and watch him and his goons run away.

Shannaro they won't be bothering Naruto anytime soon. Ha Outer we totally looked badass didn't we.

As Inner continued to ramble on I turned around facing Naruto. He shrunk away from me, frighten. Poor boy.

"Hey are you alright? You don't look too hurt but if you want we can head back to my house so I can treat you. It would be bothersome if those cuts got infected," I smile trying encouraged at him to cheer up.

"Y-your n-not scared of me?" Naruto sniffs. His face was wet with tears and snot dripped from his nose.

"Of course not! Why should I be?"

"B-but t-they say I'm a monster! I don't want to hurt you!"

Awww, look at him soo cute! Those bastards calling Naruto a monster will pay for their insolence.

You're right Inner, Naruto doesn't deserve this and standing by not doing anything to help won't do anything either. I'm going to continue to figure out the truth but I can't turn my back on him, not now and not ever! Cha!!

I knew Inner was smirking at my confession. I stretched my hand out to Naruto, " What are you talking about I don't see a monster. I see a boy who needs my help, I see an innocent boy." Naruto stared up at me, tears swelling in his eyes. He reached out and grabbed my hand.

That's how my friendship blossomed with Naruto Uzumaki!
