Chapter 5 {Keith}

                                                          Actually Shopping  

I was kinda freaking out but I didn't show it. I mean anybody would if there fucking CRUSH invited you over for dinner on CHRISTMAS. Lance looked at me, "I'll help you pick the gifts it's my family after all." He smiled while winking again. I could feel my face heating up so I looked away and ran into a random store. 

I was looking around for something to give Lance for Christmas when he popped up behind me. "Boo!" I'm not lying he did scare me a little but of course I didn't show it, okay I did jump little. He looked at me like he was trying to read my mind, "I'm going to get something real quick." Then walked away. 

Okay, I thought, okay. What to buy Lance. Judging by what he likes to do I should get him a... "Hmmm... a...I think a...aw fuck it." I grabbed a blue lion stuffed animal then went to look for Lance. I passed the pet store and heard a small bark. I looked in the window and saw two German-shepherd puppies (one asleep) wagging its tail looking at me wide eyed.   "Awwwww." I said then saw it had scars on it's body and the left ear had a chunk bit off. The other one just woke up but he was injure free. "Aw." 

I went inside and looked at them in the store so I could see behind the price tag. "Hello! Do you need help finding something?" I looked behind me. An employee was standing behind me. She had the same skin tone as Lance, brown eyes, brown hair in a bob, and black glasses. I took off my hat. "No, just um looking late Christmas shopping." I smiled. 

"Okay, well excuse me I need to grab one of those puppies. He just got a new home." She grabbed the one with no injures.  The girl looked at me than said, "Wait a minute you're the guy my brother is always talking about, Keith right? I'm Veronica*. Nice to meet you." She held out her hand. I shook her hand, "He talks about me?" 

"Oh yeah all the time. He finds you quite interesting. Well have to sell this puppy. I'll give you that one half off since his leg and because you're friends with my brother."

"Um...sure." I got out some money Lance gave me(I should get a job), "How much? I have one-hundred two-hundred... eight-hundred. Eight-hundred dollars. "Yeah that's okay it cost four-hundred ninety regularly so two-hundred forty-five dollars" I gave her my money then grabbed the puppy out of the window. I pet him on the head. "Hey girl," I checked to make sure it was a girl, "You and Cosmo will get along so well." She licked my hand. "I'll name you Poppy. Poppy Krola Kogane."

Lance was scratching Poppy behind the ear, "Oh who's a good girl, Poppy is oh yes she is. Oh yes she is oh yes." He kissed the top of her head, "Oh poor baby. How much?" He asked me. I tried to remember, "I think like two-hundred to three-hundred dollars."

When we got back I walked in my apartment I put Poppy on the floor then she started to chase her tail. I laughed, "Cosmo come here boy!" Cosmo came running the saw Poppy and sat down. He looked at me like, Dad why? I thought I was your favorite. "Cosmo you'll always be my fav. you know that." I scratched his neck then pushed him towards Poppy. He sniffed her then she jumped on him. His face was hilarious I laughed so loud. I saw  Lance looking at me out of the corner of my eye but I didn't look back at him. Poppy was licking Cosmo. Cosmo looked like he was warming up to Poppy. 

"Let's watch a movie." I said while picking up Poppy and setting her on the couch. I decided on Zootopia. I sat down on the couch and put Poppy on my lap then called Cosmo up. Cosmo started to lick my face while Poppy was pawing at him. She let out a tiny bark after five minutes of pawing at Cosmo. He put his snout in front of Poppy. She pawed at his nose until he sneezed. I continued to watch the movie. Poppy was licking Cosmo when he lied his head on my knees. Yup, I thought, this is one nice family. Then fell asleep. I mean after all I need to wake up early tomorrow it's Christmas.
