"Can't we just move in already?"

"Calm down, Tom. Matt and I are still packing!"

I kicked an empty cardboard box in front of me, with the words 'Edd's stuff' scrawled in messy sharpie. My stuff had been packed days before. All I owned was Susan; my bass, a checkered bed sheet, a spare hoodie, and a few empty bottles of Smirnoff. Edd shoved whatever he could grab into a box hurriedly, so focused that he didn't realize he had put his cat in the box. Ringo let out a displeased hiss. "Oh, Ringo!" Edd pulled her out and started rocking her in his arms. "Oh baby I'm so sowwy aw honey-" "Edd?" His head shot up, and he laughed. "Haha, sorry, i'll get back to packing!"

As he started shoving his belongings into boxes again, more carefully this time, Ringo swirled around my legs, begging for attention. I ignored him at first, but kicked him away when he bit my calf. "Dammit!" I glared at him as he sauntered away. "Dumb cat..." Ringo yowled, and sat under the table in defeat. Both of his people had betrayed him.

My checkered vans tapped impatiently on his cheap carpeted floor. We never planned to stay, but Edd and Matt had still insisted on making it look like home. Well, almost. The dingy shit-brown carpet was everywhere in the house, including the bathroom and kitchen. Mildew grew thriving and fuzzy in the corners of the floor and ceiling, and the neighbours were unruly. Edd smiles through it all, not bothered by it. Speak of the devil, "I'm ready!" I glanced at his boxes. They were stuffed to the brim, barely held together with scotch tape, "Um, yeah. Let's go check on Matt." He smiled and practically skipped to the door, excited to see his best friend.

When we opened Matt's door, he was laying limply against a wall, staring in a mirror rather blankly. He toyed with his jawline and hair for a moment before realizing we were there. "Oh, hey guys!" He jumped up, suddenly full of a wild pep. "We were just checking on you to see how much you've gotten... packed." With closer inspection of the room, you could see that Matt had packed a grand total of: nothing. Absolutely nothing. Mirrors covered the entirety of the room, including the floor, with a giant Matt shaped statue in the midst of it.

"Oh, yeah, I forgot we were doing that." The lanky ginger bounced around the room, smiling, humming, and packing boxes. As Edd and I assisted, I couldn't help but notice how unusually bubbly and social he was right now. Who gave him coffee? I shot a glance at Edd. I think I know the perpetrator.

"Honestly, Matt, did you not even start to pack?" "Nope!" "But I told you last night over dinner!" "Guess I was too caught up in my beautiful looks to remember!"

The two men bantered on and on. If Edd was gay, you would've guessed they were dating. I found it amusing how they would go from flirting, to yelling, to acting like best buds again. I always acted like I didn't want in on the fun nowadays, but it honestly made me feel... nostalgic. The person I would do that with is long gone now, and I'll have to get over it. "Tom! Were done!" I grunted. "Finally. Let's go home now?" Edd beamed.

"Yeah, let's go home"

TIME SKIP

Tom shoved the group's things in the trunk of their old red car, and slid into the drivers seat. He was happy to finally go back home. "Step on it Tim!" Matt screamed from the backseat. Tom sighed and muttered under his breath, "lame..." He started driving off, knowing the route well. He had visited this place every week when they lived at the apartment, usually after Edd and Matt fell asleep. He would drive there, looking over the wreckage as it started coming back together. He remembered all the memories they shared there...

The breeze attacked his face violently as he stuck his head out the window. It pulled his practically antigravity hair out of his face, and made tears prick in his eyes. He imagined the cool wind blowing away all the things in his mind. And then Edd yanked him back into reality. Literally.

"OW! Edd, what the fuck??" Tom rubbed his neck, refocusing on the road. Edd had snatched Toms hood and pulled him sharply into the car. "Drive! We almost crashed into the yellow car behind us!" Tom glanced into the side view mirror. Sure enough, there was a lemon yellow truck not too far behind them. He couldn't quite see the person inside, but he was sure they were not too pleased. "Alright, jeez." He narrowed his eyes and allowed his anger to boil inside him. He could NOT wait to be home.
