Val's P.O.V.I sat down on the stool in front of a fully polished kitchen. It was modern with marble counters; I loved it.
"Coffee, dear?" Dante's mother, Elenor - her name is Dante told me when we met - started to bring out cookies from the cupboard.
"Yes, thank you," I say as I crunch a chocolate cookie in my mouth; my period must be coming because the packet seemed to become empty by the time she handed me the coffee. She didn't seem to notice but.
"So, Valentina, that's an unusual and beautiful name?" Elenor says. I chuckle.
"My mother, she wanted a beautiful and strong name for me as I was the weaker one when I was born; Valencia was the oldest twin," I said, looking down at my coffee as it sails around.
"Well, they are beautiful names," Elenor says. Her smile, so warm, so mother-like.
"Where is your mother? If you don't mind me asking?" she smiles; I'm slightly taken back by her comment, not too sure on what to say, a pain shoots through my heart at the thought that I no longer have to say that my mother is dead and that she is alive and I am glad for that.
"Well, she is with my brother Mateo in Spain" I smile slightly. I cannot wait to see her again and finally figure out all her favourite food and colour and what movie she likes to watch best. Dante's mother nods, noticing my slightly aching heart.
"Oh, do you see her?" she smiles, taking a seat next to me. I was kind of glad to have someone ask these questions, and I was so taken in by Dante's mother's warmth and kindness as a mother that my mind and body were confined to tell her all these things that were bottled up, waiting to come out.
"Well, I only found out a few months ago that she was alive. Padre told us that she died, and we were only 14 at the time" I smiled weakly, reliving the moment.
"No child should go through that" she smiles and brings my hand into hers. Her pale hands were soft, and lovingly, her heart glowed, and I could understand why Dante's father was deeply in love with this woman.
"Well, we did, but we got through it. We have each other 'Siempre y para siempre'. She used to tell us to always vow to that, and we have ever since we were young" I smile, remembering when mother told us the vow; it was before the attack happened, and that was the night that Padre told us Madre died.
"What does it mean?" she asks, slightly confused about my Spanish language.
"Always and forever" I smile, thinking about my sister, and Elenor chuckles, smiling at me, her green eyes pierced into your soul; she had such a warm presence, like a cosy fire.
"I want to ask a question," I say, and she nods for me to continue. "Do you ever cook in here?" I ask, looking around the kitchen like it had never been touched, and she chuckles like she understood what I thought.
"Of course, I am actually making dinner tonight. Would you like to help?" Elenor smiled, my heart glowed; I loved cooking dinner with Madre when I was little.
"Please, I need something to take my mind off everything," I say, "of Padre and Dante", I whisper, nodding and looking down a little. Fiddling with my fingers.
"Of course, dear", she laughs. "But what has my son done now?" she says, and I look up in shock. "Did I say that out loud?" I ask, and she nods
"Si, Now what has he done. Do I need to hit him?" She smirks, and I giggle
"No, he is just so amazing. I just can't stop thinking about him" I smile, and she nods. "Ahhh, I see you like him" she smiles warmly
"Yes, but after what happened with my previous relationship, I'm scared", I huff
