Dante's P.O.V
I might just actually lose her forever, more than forever, infinity. She just got her memory back, I finally got her back, and now I might lose her for real. Luck just isn't on my side at all, on our side. I watched as the doctor took his time in carefully stitching Val's organs. I watched him as his whole face was directly on the equipment in his hand as he stitched and cleaned with alcohol.
"She's fine" Dr Frabrotta smiles once he places some equipment on a tray thing on some sort of wheel thing, and I look at him in shock.
"What??" I say confused, She's fine; she's going to be okay. I was shocked. I really thought that this was it. My heart glowed; She's okay, I'm going to smile again, walk again, see again. I'm going to hold her again, kiss her again, stroke her hair.
"She will be fine, the wound was easy to stitch up, and the knife didn't hit anything important. She should wake up soon" He smiles warmly, a way that doctors do so. It comforts the one in pain emotionally. I nod, Honestly this has been the worst few weeks in my life. As soon as Val wakes up, we have a break from everything.
"I'll leave you, Mr Lombardi, and try and rest, right now she is like a baby when she sleeps, so should you," Dr Frabrotta states, and I nod at him; I'm sure the boys need tending to, and also I need a shower to get rid of the dried blood from my skin.
I escorted the doctor out before going back to the seat next to my bed that Val was now sleeping in; I made sure that the doctor had all the monitors wired up correctly before he left. I sat on the bed next to her before I reached a hand up, stroking her forehead and kissing it lightly before getting up and holding back the tears, reminding myself that she was okay. I get up and grab a towel before heading to the bathroom.
Placing the towel on the heated rail, I turn the shower on before removing my clothes and stepping into the shower. Quickly showering soap on my body and washing it off, I step out and cover my lower half with a towel, drying my hair with a smaller one before exiting the bathroom. I open the door and look up to see Val still asleep peacefully in the bed, the blanket hung under her arms, and all the noise from the room came from her light snores.
I stride over to the walk-in closet picking out simple jeans and a t-shirt, slide on some shoes and exit the room and bedroom before walking down to the nursery, hoping Elena has brought the children back and put Marco and Ricardo back in their nursery.
I open the door to their room, and I walk in to see Cenia and Elena both holding and looking after the babies. Elena's two-month-old baby Leonardo is resting in her arms, whereas my now 9-month-old boys are trying to crawl away from Cenia. I laugh as Marco crawls to my feet.
"Hi buddy," I say as I crouch down to his level and stroke his brown hair, like my own. I look up to the two girls as Ricardo sees me in Cenia's arms and wants his Father rather than Cenia.
"How is she?" Cenia asks me, and I smile significantly, thinking of Val sleeping in my bed. I pick up Marco, balancing on my waist and rising up to meet Cenia's level.
"She's resting but should be fine, she's going to be fine", I reply most positively. I know she will pull through she is a fighter, and, of course, I am not getting rid of her yet. Like she said, she's mine forever.
"Can we see her?" Elena smiles as she holds a bottle up to Lorenzo's mouth so he can drink the milk. I nod as; she adjusts Ricardo on her waist, and we all make our way out the nursery and into the bedroom Val is resting in. She was precisely in the same position that I left her in, her head resting on a pillow; the blanket that covered her had not even moved an inch.
"Look, Ricardo, there's mummy", Cenia hushes to the boys and, I smile as she walks around to Val and Ricardo's hand reaches out to hold his mum.
"Ricardo, she's asleep", Cenia tries to explain to the little baby, and I smile as Elena holds my arm in a comforting way before she goes over and sits next to Cenia. I look down at little Marco. I see myself more in Marco than in Ricardo. I just know that they will be trouble makers and, I can't wait for the day when I can teach them the ropes in the business and show them how to shoot and fight and defend themselves.
"Come on, Marco, let's see Mummy," I say as I kiss his little hand that is held in my larger one as I walk over and sit on the opposite side that the girls whereon. Ricardo managed to wiggle out of Cenia's arms and walked, well crawled to Val and sat next to her arms, holding his hands up as a sign that he wants to be held, but she won't, not right now at least.
"She's sleeping, Ric," I say as his blue eyes that resemble Val's look at me, slight tears at the rim of his water line as he crawls to me before the sniffles start and the waterworks poor down his cheeks. I stroke his hair, trying to be strong for my family, but I won't be happy until Val wakes up. We spent some time sitting there and chatting as if Val could talk back, and Ricardo and Marco managed to wiggle out and sleep next to Val by her arms.
"Come on, let's get them to bed", I say, grabbing Marco, and Cenia held Ricardo as we made our way out to their own bedroom and I settled them in their sleeping cots and soon they fell back to sleep. I said thank you to Cenia and Elena before walking out and wanting to get some sleep myself while Val was resting. Walking back through the door, I grab the pillow resting on the floor and go to place it on the bed when I suddenly stop at her voice.
"Dante", I froze as I looked up to her face as she is now sitting up and resting her back against a pillow, her perfect complexion is practically glowing, even though the colour is slightly drained from it, probably from the blood loss, but her golden hair made up for it. I smiled at her and rushed to her side, grabbing her face and kissing her harshly. Before she strokes my hair and I rest my head on her chest.
"Don't leave me again?" I say in a whisper and, I feel her light breathing against my ear on her chest.
"Never", she replies.
