Creatures of the night danced through the air and swooped through the sky, they shone amongst the stars and sang sparkling songs: Oh, the silent beauty of night, he missed it. Aaron stood wearily as he woke up again, the number of times he'd gotten up, he'd lost count.
"Okay, okay, I'm coming."
With a mighty yawn he approached the small pile of hay and leaves. On it lay a baby Cyndaquil, flailing its tiny limbs. Aaron sighed, and reached for the pile of berries beside the bed. He crushed a Pecha Berry between his paws and rubbed it together until it was a gooey mess. He held out his berry-covered paw, placing it under the Cyndaquil's nose. The baby Pokémon sniffed it before recognising the smell and latching into it.
Cyndaquil held Aaron's foreleg as it slurped the berry-mixture from his paw. The baby Pokémon finished sucking and released the Jolteon's leg with a happy, "Cynda!"
Aaron scoffed as he cleaned his paw off. "What is that your name or something? Hm, Cinder... Yeah nope, that's stupid, too generic. Besides, this isn't my kid." Aaron glared at the adorable bundle of fur. "That's right you're not my kid. You're a curse."
Cyndaquil made a gurgling sound as she looked at him. Aaron groaned, shook his head and began walking back towards his bed. Cyndaquil began crying again.
"Agh! What do you want?" Aaron demanded. He ran back to the child and put his face right in front of hers. "I just fed you! You've had water! What more do you need?"
Cyndaquil screamed happily, grabbed Aaron's snout and nuzzled his face with hers. The show of affection caught Aaron off-guard, he rapidly pulled away. He'd never needed anyone's love or attention before but that felt... nice. Shaking the thought from his head Aaron tried to return to bed once more, but sure enough the second he left her side Cyndaquil began crying.
Groaning Aaron picked her up in his mouth and carried her with him. He moved to his bed, lay down and placed her beside him. She snuggled against his side and curled into a ball. Aaron grunted. "Happy? Now please, let me sleep."
Cyndaquil made a happy sound and began snoring quietly. He tried to glare at her but couldn't, a small smile broke across his grumpy face and he chuckled. "My patience is dwindling."
He lay his head down to sleep and had one last thought as he eyed the baby Cyndaquil: 'Dwindle huh? That's not too bad.'
