The venue was packed when Alex got here. He went inside quickly trying to avoid the fans as usual. To his amusement, he had been successful on the hiding game.
At the door he gave his name, with hands in his pockets, looking suspiciously sideways for any fan that would possibly jump him without any warning. The Usher soon granted him access to the backstage. Alex sighed relieved, not only because he was finally inside, but also because Miles kept his name on the list. He could've well let him out of it.
Miles was ready to go on stage when Alex stepped into the long backstage corridor. This time Miles was brilliantly dressed in a jumpsuit with pink details and wearing pink makeup. When he saw Alex, he went back to the dressing room with an excuse just to see Alex better, but he didn't have much time left before rocking his fan's world.
Alex quickly started mingling with all the people here, talking with support band members and friends. He looked at Miles and waved timidly with a shy smile on his face, just like if he had been talking to Miles every day in the last couple of months.
The song that plays before Miles entrance was already on when Miles gave Alex a quick hug. He missed him so much but he had to make the hug short. He couldn't let Alex get under his skin once again. Miles kept his hopes inside the box, seeing that letting them out was not wise at all.
During the gig, he dedicated Alex's favourite song to him. He called him brother again, but he had finally made peace with the name. He remembered all the times they had called each other brother before. Brother, twin, soul twin, mate, soul mate, etc. It was only when it came from Louise's mouth that the name sounded so despicable.
Miles couldn't help but notice that Alex was alone. Would he finally spill the beans? Miles knew he was hiding something, Alex couldn't lie to him for long, even if their connection was a little off.
The gig felt rushed for Miles because all he wanted was to drop his beloved guitar and go running back to backstage to talk to Alex. That didn't really prevent him from performing a smashing gig, getting every opportunity he had to show off to the audience...and to Alex. Or was the order of importance switched here?
Miles walked to the backstage with their bandmates and started looking for Alex right the way, asking everyone there if they had seen him. Sadly, no one had.
He opened every door to every room and shouted Alex's name repeatedly, so much that even his friends were already feeling sorry for him when he gave up and headed to his dressing room. He stepped inside and locked the door behind him, he didn't want to be bothered in his sorrow anyway, he needed time to go back to be the smiley Miles that everyone knew.
"Fuck me!" He muttered. "Where the hell is he?"
"Talking to yourself Miles?" A deep voice spoke, making Miles turn to face the source of it.
"Oh..." He said nonchalantly realising who it was. "You." He sighed almost with disdain. "Have you seen Alex?"
"I'm pretty sure he went home. Or to Paris. Go figure it." J said scornfully and Miles looked back at him clearly hurt.
What? Was Alex no longer at the venue? How could he do that to Miles? Miles had been waiting for months to have a minute alone with him, and he just vanished. Didn't he deserve a goodbye? A pat on his shoulder for a great gig? Nothing? Really?
Miles was angry, he couldn't even pretend he was not when his face was contorting madly. Why would Alex come all the way here just to ditch him? He had looked everywhere for him, even under rocks backstage, he was nowhere to be found.
"Are you ok Miles? You don't look all right mate." J asked in a mocking tone disguised as concern.
"I'm not, just...just...give me a minute." Miles said taking his clothes off in order to change. Jack, or simply J like everyone called him was a friend of a friend of Miles. He was always around, so much that Miles didn't have a problem losing his clothes in front of him, it was almost like he wasn't even there. But what naive Miles hadn't realised just yet was J eyeing him so lustfully that was making him drool.
