Grayson Bailey

The smell of bacon woke me, my body suddenly becoming aware of the time I needed to be up. I shot up out of the bed I somehow ended up in, running into the bathroom and rushing myself to get ready. I violently brushed my teeth, washed my face, combed my messy hair, and did my business.

I rushed out into the kitchen, Ethan was shirtless, placing eggs and bacon between two pieces of toast that made my stomach growl. "Good morning, baby" he coos, pulling me into his side and hugging me.

"No time" I mumble, pushing his arm off of me, grabbing an apple for a quick breakfast. "Grayson?" He calls as I run back into my room, throwing on some random clothes. "Yes?"  I ask in a rushed voice.

"It's five thirty" he informs me, I freeze, my shirt hanging from my neck as I snatch my phone from my side table. It in fact was only 5:34 and I didn't have to leave until 6, I take the shirt back off, leaving on the jeans I had already forced myself in.

"Breakfast?" He asks, walking into the room with a plate that smelled absolutely delicious. I pecked Ethan on the lips, taking the plate and walking back into the kitchen with him following behind me. We sat down at the bar, biting into our breakfast sandwiches, sipping on orange juice and reminiscing over last nights events.

I noticed that as he talked I became happier, I was in a better mood just by hearing his voice and seeing his smile. Just his presence lifted the vibe of the entire apartment, his laugh was like heavens playlist. Maybe I'm crazy but I think I love him, for real.

"Anything good planned today?" He asks, bringing me out of my thoughts. "Actually not really, I have to study for my internship exam. It's in two weeks and if I fail I will no longer be a surgeon. But if I pass I become a resident, take on my own interns and my career takes off" I tell him, the stress suddenly making its way towards me.

"You're smart, and you're passionate. I'm sure you'll fly right through" Ethan encourages me, grabbing onto my hand with a smile. I smile back at him, letting go and heading towards my room. "I have to leave in five, would you clean up for me?" I ask him and he agrees, doing the dishes and loading the dishwasher.

I throw on my shirt and slip on some socks and my athletic shoes. "No way" Ethan walks into the room, looking down at my feet. "What?" I ask making him laugh, "you walk around all day in Gucci sneakers? With no care that they'll be ruined?" Ethan asks in amazement.

"Well yeah" I shrug, tying up my laces and grabbing my things to head out for the day. "Lock up please, I'll call you later" I kiss Ethan on the lips sweetly, rushing out of my room and out the door, taking one last glance in the full body mirror in my living room.

"Bailey you're with me for the day" Nixon calls me out of the group making me gulp nervously. There wasn't much communication between him but I wanted to impress him because he was my attending, at least the one I needed to take advice from because he was Head of Cardiothoracics.

My legs quickly followed after him as he approached the board of surgeries, scanning his eye over it and picking up he eraser and marker. He switches out the other interns with me, making me scrub in on all his surgeries. "Sir, that's not fair to the other interns" I object making him give me a stern look but a sweet smile on his lips.

"Dr. Bailey, I'm sure you're great at what you do but I need to see for myself. As doctors we can't trust somebody's word because everyone lies. So let's see if Kidman was right about you" Nixon tells me, walking away from the board. I quickly follow, my legs moving with his fast ones as we entered the OR, immediately getting to work with the back to back surgeries.
