Today marks the first day Ray attends his class. It isn't the first for the other students though. Just him.

He's been gone for what he could count as atleast, a month by now? Most schools would most certainly have expelled him for his absence at this point. There's also the issue with the weeks worth of classes he's missed. Not that he's worried, he's all caught up with the lessons during that time. The only thing he needs to actually worry about are the missed tests for each subject, a few tasks and other than that, none else. No one from the school's staff questions his absence aswell and he suspects it's because of the influence his grandmother holds over them.

She is the principal, he figured it's only natural she gets to pull a few strings here and there. That, or the very thought of opposing her can be just as insane as signing your own retirement paper and digging yourself an early grave. Ah, nevermind the old hag.

He fixes his tie, exhales, repeating to himself that he's not nervous, not at all (Which he is but doing so gives him the fake confidence he needs to somehow get by). He pushes the door forward. When he steps into his room, he judges how his homeroom adviser just nonchalantly greets him, not even bothering to introduce him to the class. She just points over to his seat, the one beside an odd looking orange-haired girl. Ray notes how obnoxious and messy her sunset hair looks, definitely not going to talk to her.

The raven-haired boy notices the confused glances his classmates are sharing each other. He pays it no mind and sets down his bag. Moments later, he notices the girl beside him pushing a note to his table.

Ohh a new guy!
I'm Emma btw! What's your name?

Ray eyes her. Annoying. He writes down, but instead of passing it to her he decides to crumple the paper and proceeded to throw it inside his bag to get her off his case. He doesn't look at her face. Doesn't expect her to attempt another one after that. Have fun dealing with your ass of a seatmate.

For the rest of first period, to Ray's relief, she completely ignores him and he's glad he doesn't have to deal with anyone. He takes his phone and sets his earphone jack, plugging it to both ears. It'll hopefully drown out any noise from the room.

He takes in the beating of the drums, tapping his foot along the rhythm. He feels himself slowly zoning out.

He's slow to notice another note being placed on his desk. Once he does though, it takes him a full minute to decide whether or not to open it. It's probably nonsense anyway.

It was not.

You should take that out. Ms. Krone's not too keen with students who don't pay attention.

He sees another one that made its way to his desk.

P. S. Don't unleash her inner demon :))

After reading the note, he looks up, hearing what seems to be muffled shouting. He takes the earpiece off.

"- ou two!"

The figure is pointing at what looks to be his seatmate, and Ray himself? "Yes you!"

Ah. The said demon teacher is looking at him with the eyes of a raging bull.

"Are you even listening?" The teacher's voice screeches. They feel like chalk thinning over the board.

"No. Not really." The boy answers blithely, earning him an incredulous amount of amused looks, some cheers and an audible gasp from the room. Ms. Krone looks more enraged by his response but the boy remains unfazed and this only sparks her anger more as she clenches her teeth and speaks up in a nastily sweet voice.
