Marinette didn't bother wiping the tears off her cheeks as she sprinted from the school. She didn't bother explaining herself when she entered her home to her parents' questioning and worried looks.

In the safety of her room, she expected Tikki's comforting voice to console her, but then she remembered and a new wave of guilt and sadness settled in.

How did this happen? How could Lila have found out? Had she been spying?

It didn't matter now, though. There was nothing more to blackmail with. Even if the secret got out more, Hawkmoth wouldn't do anything without an easy reward. And he wouldn't connect the dots between her and Master Fu.

She took another shaking breath, feeling like a piece of her had been ripped away, but it wasn't. She gave it away. And that was the most painful part.

Hopefully Master Fu would think of something soon. Chat Noir needed a partner, and Marinette wanted the other side of her to come back. He would know what to do.
