Part 2: Getting Ready

We enter my room and it's time to get ready for prom. My hair is now dry so I head into my bathroom to do my hair. I pull out my curling iron, placing it on the countertop next to my sink.

"Are you going to do your hair first? Or makeup?" I ask, plugging in the iron and turning it on.

"I think I'm gonna go ahead and to my makeup first," she says, placing her makeup bags on my vanity table.

"Alright," I walk back into my room while the curler heats up.

I head to my closet and take out my burgundy dress. I hang it on the door and take off the cover. I admire it and think, I wonder if he'll like it. I feel myself blush and I shake my head.

As if. It's just my wishful thinking, he's probably even got a date. Of course he won't notice me. I mean why would he? We hardly ever talk...

I let out a heavy sigh and turn to go back to the bathroom when I notice (h/n) is staring at me with a smirk on her face.

"You were thinking about Calum, weren't you, (y/n)?" She teases.

"Shut up," I mutter and walk into the bathroom.

She just laughs and begins to prime her face in preparation for her makeup. I roll my eyes in annoyance and pick up a bottle of haircare product. I squeeze it onto my hand and rub both my hands together, activating the product. I let it set for a bit before grabbing my curling iron. I take pieces of my hair and wrap them around the wand. I repeat the step until my entire hair is curled. After I finish, I run my hair through the curls to have them look more natural and blended together.

I peek into my room and see that (h/n) is now spraying her face with setting spray.

"Are you going to need the curler? Or do you wanna use the straightener?" I ask her.

"Could you connect the straightener for me while I clean up here?" She asks, referring to the spread of products that flooded over the table.

I nod and head back into the bathroom to disconnect the curling wand, replacing it with the straightener. I leave it to heat up while I take out my micellar water and a cotton pad. I dampened the cotton and gently wipe my face, ridding it of any excess oils before starting my makeup.

(h/n) walks into the bathroom and starts to do her hair and I make my way towards my vanity. I sit and stare at myself in the mirror for a moment, contemplating on what look to go for. I finally think of the vibe I want to go for and take out all the necessary products I need.

I decide on a brownish smokey eyeliner look with some shimmer on my inner corner and brow bone, something simple. After about 30 minutes of hard work, I reach over for my setting spray and set my makeup. I turn my head from side to side and admire my work.

"Damn I'm good," I praise myself before going to the bathroom to check on (h/n). "How do I look?" I ask, using my hands to frame my face like a vogue model.

(h/n) turns to look at me, still straightening her hair, her eyes widden, "Holy shit! You look so good! I'd definitely smash if I were Calum," she jokes, followed by a wink.

I throw my head back and laugh at her comment, "As if," I shake my head and walk towards her. I saw her struggling to get the back pieces of her hair, so I take the straightener from her and do it for her.

"Thanks babe," she grins before asking, "Can you believe we'll be graduating in a couple of days? These last few years went by so quick, don't you think?"

"Definitely," I answer absent-mindedly, taking the last section and running the straightener through it. "And.. done," I say as I disconnect the appliance.

"So... you making a move tonight or what?" she asks seriously.

I stare at her for a moment before responding, "I don't know what you're talking about," feigning ignorance as I head back into my room to change into my dress.

"Oh c'mon! You know exactly what I'm referring to.. Calum! You've literally had a crush on him since forever ago!" (h/n) exclaims as she takes out her dress.

I take off my shirt and shorts and remove my dress from the hanger, "I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of something happening, but let's be real," I say while stepping into the dress, "we've hardly ever spoken to each other, so I doubt he even thinks of me that way."

"Well all I'm saying is that you'll never know unless you try," she says, gesturing me to turn around so she can zip up my dress. "Regardless, just know I'm rooting for you in whatever you do."

"I know, that's why you're my favorite person ever," I tell her as I zip her up.

"Damn right I am. Anyway, you got your extra set of close ready?" (h/n) asks.

"Yeah I packed them up in my bag along with some shoes," I let her know.

"Great, so we can change after prom for the after party, whoop whoop!" She exclaims as we head downstairs with our heels in our hands.

"We're about to get lit~" I add before looking the door behind us and heading towards (h/n's) car.

I throw my bag of clothes on her back seat and place my heels on the floor of the car before getting in and buckling up. I check the dashboard of the car to look at the time. 6pm it reads.

(h/n) starts her car and we make our way to the venue where our last dance is being held at.

I stare out the window as she drives and I can't help but to think,

"I hope something good happens tonight."
