Emma's POV
Why do I have to go back there? I really don't wanna go. At least today was a good day for once, but she's going to ruin it. I have to though. Maybe if I'm late this once, I won't get in that much trouble.
So I guess I'm not going. Now, what am I supposed to do?
Five Years Ago
"Liam, why the hell are you spending so much money on her? I told you to make her happy not make us bankrupt." I woke up when I heard Grandma yell.
She was talking to someone on the phone so I couldn't hear what they were saying.
"No but's, the whole reason we took her from Ethan was so that we could use her for the money the government is paying to get her a good education. They even give some just so she doesn't leave." Grandma yelled again
Are they talking about me? So she doesn't really love me, she only wanted the money. I don't believe it, but she always seemed so genuine. Maybe I should ask her myself, to make sure.
A few days later
"Grandma!" I went to her after I had finished all my homework.
"Yes, child." she answered me.
"Could I talk to you, please?" I asked her
"Sure, about what?" she asked with a smile on her face.
"Um... Is it true," I started, but then look down to avoid eye contact, "that the only reason you took me from dad was so that you could use me for my money?" I asked.
After a few seconds, I looked up when I heard no response and saw that her smile had dropped. She looked so angry at that moment.
So it was true. She never really loved me. What was I excepting? That it was all a lie even though I heard it come from her mouth. I guess I had too much faith in her. With that, a tear started to form in my eyes.
After calming herself down, her anger turned into laughter. How could she laugh right now?
"No point in pretending anymore. Since you already know, might as well make myself happy now. You have been getting on my nerves lately." she said with so much hatred.
After saying that she got something out from the drawer next to her.
"Since you've been bad lately and I have to control my anger issues, why don't we work together?" she asked but it sounded more like a demand. "Now get on your hands and knees and bend over?"
Then I finally realized what she pulled out, it was a whip, and it would probably hurt a lot.
"But Grandma, I didn't do anything wrong. Please don't!" I begged her not to hit me.
"That's too bad, child." she said with eagerness to start.
...
"Hey!" I heard from behind me.
I didn't even have to turn around to know who that was. I could tell just by hearing his voice.
