The next morning when I woke up, I glanced over to see Gianluca had already gotten up. Forcing myself out of bed, I stumbled across to my mirror and stared at myself directly in the face, feeling disgusted for what happened the night before.
The previous night, I had gotten into a fight with Gianluca right after someone tried to take a shot at me with a gun. I called him selfish and said to him that he was clearly incapable of protecting me. I knew it was wrong the moment I did it when I walked off from him. And when he grabbed out to me and forced me to walk home with him, I felt guilt rise into the pit of my stomach. I felt bad for what I had done and I wanted to apologize to him. But this morning, he wasn't sleeping next to me when I woke up.
Walking over to his bedside table, I found his phone unlocked. And what I saw next was a lot of messages he had been sending to Piero and Ignazio about me. All sent from last night. I scrolled up to weeks before we got here. All messages saying about how much he loved me and didn't want to lose me. Then I scrolled down to the latest messages, reading the anger in his words. Finding that he was annoyed with himself for what happened and how he blamed himself for not being able to protect me.
Reading over his frustrated texts I unplugged his phone and tracked his GPS signal from his watch. It made me question why he had left his phone at home. And when I had located what building he was in, I stopped in the middle of the courtyard of my mother's house. He didn't go to the gym...
"Oh no," I muttered to myself, quickly running back inside and grabbing my coat before getting my car keys and rushing outside.
My mother called out my name, but I didn't listen. I hurriedly got into the driver's seat of my car and drove as fast as I could to Gian's GPS signal. When I arrived, it was an abounded warehouse that hadn't been used for years outside of Bari. I knew exactly who had Gian, and I wasn't leaving without a fight. So I made my way around to the back entrance, carefully watching my step to see if there was anything that would give away that I was here. As I snuck in through the entrance, it thankfully was open enough for me to squeeze my slim body through it. Backed up against boxes, I glanced around the corner slightly.
I was horrified.
"Tell me where she is!" I couldn't see who said it from behind, but I immediately recognized the husky voice. It was my fathers.
