Chapter 2: The Sleepover

Hayes’s P.O.V

Nash and Cam just invited the kids next door over for dinner and to stay over. Jake seems like a really awesome guy. Melanie, Jake’s sister, was so beautiful. She could really pull off the sweatpants she was wearing. I am so excited for her to come over! I really want to get to know her better. Maybe we can become best friends or maybe even more. Ugh Hayes what are you thinking! You are getting way ahead of yourself plus she probably has a boyfriend. I would be so surprised if she didn’t.

I decided I should go upstairs and clean my room since it was sort of a mess. As soon as I started cleaning Nash and Cam walked in. “Dude you need to hurry they are on their way over right now,” Nash said. I didn’t know what to do so I just shoved everything underneath my bed. I walked downstairs and that’s when the doorbell rang. Nash got up and opened the door and Jake and Melanie walked in.

 “Hey guys!” Jake said.

“Sup man!” Cam said.

“Hey Melanie!” I said. She looked up and smiled a little. She must be shy, oh well I will fix that in no time. She looked so beautiful. She changed her outfit to a pair of skinny jeans and an over sized sweater and her hair was down and straight.

“Here we will show you guys were you can put your bags.” Nash said heading up the stairs. When everyone got upstairs Nash turned to me and said, “Hayes show Melanie where she can put her bag.”  I nodded and led her into my room.

“You can just put your bag anywhere,” I said plopping down on my bed. She sat her bag on the floor and just awkwardly stood there.

“You can come sit down,” I said laughing and patting the spot next to me. She came and sat down next to me leaving a lot of space in between us.

 “You don’t talk much do you?” I asked.

 She looked down at her hands and said, “Sorry I’m just not used to this.”

“What? Being alone with a boy?” I asked. She looked at me, bit her lip and nodded her head. Gosh she looked so sexy when she did that. I guess I can cross her having a boyfriend off my list.

Melanie’s P.O.V

I was sitting in Hayes’s bedroom and he kept trying to get me to talk but I don’t know why. What’s the point once he gets to know me he is just going to turn on me just like everyone else.  I decided to make this end and tell him the truth so he can go ahead and start hating me. “Listen to be honest I don’t have very good people skills. Back in my home town I was always the loser and the geek and I had absolutely no friends and I was bullied every single day. I would come home with new bruises every day and I would always lie to my family and tell them I was a klutz and I fell. Also because of the bulling I started cutting,” I lifted my sleeve and showed him the scars, “Now that you know all of this, I don’t blame you if you decide to not be my friend and you want to go and tell everyone about what I do.”

I finished talking and I looked up at him and he was looking at me with those piercing blue eyes. “I am so glad you told me that. Now I can help you and get you to stop cutting. Also I would never hate you or bully you like people at your old school. They are all jerks. I will never hurt you like that,” he said. Then before I knew what just happened he leaned in and placed a soft kiss on my lips before standing up and taking my hand and leading me down stairs. We reached the bottom of the stairs and I turned and looked at him.
