Melanie’s P.O.V.
RIIIIIIIING!! The final bell went off and everyone scurried to get out of the classroom. I walked quickly to my locker trying to ignore the stares and the whispers around me. When I finally made it to my locker I shoved my books in and grabbed my backpack as quick as possible. “Mel slow down! What’s the rush for?” Hayes asked finally making it to my locker. “You completely left me back there.”
“Oh sorry I didn’t realize you were behind me,” I said looking down embarrassed. “Wait did you just call me Mel?” I asked.
“Oh yeah is that okay?” he asked.
“Yeah it’s just Jake is usually the only one that calls me that, but it’s okay if you call me it to,” I said smiling at him.
“Okay well we gotta go come on!” He said dragging me down the hall.
“Where are we going?” I questioned confused.
“To my football practice. You can sit on the bleachers and watch, and then afterwards we can go get pizza with the rest of the guys,” Hayes said. As if on cue my stomach started growling and making other whale noises. I quickly covered my stomach hoping Hayes didn’t hear.
“Well it seems like you really want that pizza huh?” Hayes said. I covered my face feeling my face heat up. “It’s okay but we need to hurry before I am late,” he said with a chuckle.
We arrived on the football field where I was attacked with bear hugs from Jake, Cam, and Nash. “I can’t breathe!” I managed to say while dramatically gasping for air.
“Guys stop you’re going to crush her!” Hayes yelled at them. They all let go and we started laughing.
“Hayes we talked to the coach and he has allowed Jake on the team!” Cam exclaimed.
“Awesome!” Hayes said.
“Melanie you can sit over there on those bleachers and watch okay?” Nash said.
“Okay” I said and walked over to the bleachers and sat down.
A couple of preppy girls sat behind me and started talking about all of the football players. “Omg girls did you see the new guy Jake?” one girl asked the others. I immediately started listening when they mentioned my brother’s name.
“I did he is so hot!” a girl said.
“But you know who is hotter?” a third girl asked.
