After a few hours of working on both suits Peter, Tony and Ned had returned to the common room to see what the others were up to. Vision, Wanda and Rhodey were finally here.
“Sam don't you dare!” Bucky yelled while Sam got closer and closer to him. The others laughed at the scene.
Sam stopped and pretended to think, his fist under his chin while his body was slightly leaning to one side.
“I have decided that I don't care” Sam said and threw what he had in his hand at Bucky's face.
A water balloon.
“Water balloon fight!” Scott yelled over a soaked Bucky repeatedly cursing, Sam running away screaming, and Steve yelling language. To which everyone laughed and sprung into action.
Everyone on the team got along relatively well, so when they all looked at each other they knew who was going against who. There were two teams. The red and blue team.
Red team: Tony, Peter, Ned, Natasha, Rhodey, Vision, Sam.
Blue team: Steve, Clint, Scott, Bucky, Thor, Wanda, Bruce. The red team had claimed the kitchen as their base and the blue team had claimed the training room.
They had all settled in the kitchen with a huge bucket full of red water balloons. Peter and Ned had made all of the water balloons while everyone else talked strategies. They just laughed quietly to themselves as their team argued which plan was best. They didn't speak to any of them. Not even to each other. They were too busy putting red food dye in the water balloons.
So it wasn't a surprise to both of them when Sam once again began to run for his life when he noticed that Bucky clothes were soaked in not only water but food dye filled water. It was however a surprise to everybody else. Everyone thought it was extremely funny Bucky did as well, but he did have a few things to say.
“What the fuck!? You guys never told us you were going to do this!” Bucky yelled in faked irritation. In the end he began to laugh at the genius idea.
Everyone but Peter thought his outburst was funny. He flinched so hard he fell to the ground from his previous standing position behind everyone, Peter failed to see Bucky's smile, he failed to hear him laugh, and most importantly, he failed to see that he was only joking. He immediately registered Bucky's outburst as negative.
Without the Avengers noticing he ran out of the tower. Ned who had witnessed what just happened followed him out of the tower after leaving a note.
The group of Earth's mightiest heroes continued their water balloon fight. All while failing to realize the absence of both teen boys.
Once they were all drenched head to toe they decided it was time to decide which team won.
Tony was looking down at his ruined clothes and laughed.
“Wow they really did a number on us Pete.”
But when no reply came he looked up and around the room.
“Where is Peter?” He asked everyone in the room, who also started looking around.
“He's not here” Said Wanda.
“Friday?” Tony called out before being interrupted by Vision.
“She's right, he's no longer in the building”
“What Vision and Wanda said is true” Replied Friday's robotic voice.
“When did he leave?” asked Bruce.
“He left when the water balloon fight began” answered Friday.
“His friend Ned left a note” Friday added.
Tony immediately started looking around for the note. When he caught sight of a piece of paper on the kitchen counter he went towards it with a frown on his face.
‘We're sorry we had to leave so abruptly but Peter and I just remembered we have an important assignment due on Monday which we haven't started yet. Thank you so much for having us
Ned.’
Tony's frown only deepened, Peter had told him he didn't have an assignments due at the moment.
Peter doesn't lie to him.
“What's wrong?” asked Natasha
Tony didn't have to say anything, he just passed around the note.
The first one to speak up was Natasha.
“I don't like that friend of his”
Natasha just felt like something was wrong. That he shouldn't be around Peter. And apparently she isn't the only one who thinks that.
“I don't like him either” Said Clint.
“Yeah there's something off about him” added Bucky.
“Why don't you guys like him? He seemed like a nice dude.” said Scott.
“You guys don't have to like him, as long as Peter likes him that's all that matters” Rhodey said over the bickering voices.
Rhodey just felt like they shouldn't be giving their opinions, when he first became friends with Tony a lot of people told him to stay away. That he will get him into trouble. They just misjudged him. Tony turned out to be probably one of the best, if not the best person he's ever had the pleasure of befriending. He doesn't want a group of adults misjudging an innocent teenage friendship.
“Rhodey's right.” Steve finally spoke up.
“We barely met the kid. Cut him some slack, besides we aren't friends with him. Who are we to imply that he's a bad friend.”
If only they knew.
