(5) Preparation

The week before Shiloh's next heat Bucky Ryan and James made sure their log cabin was done and put together before Shiloh's first heat. It was where they were going to mate and Bucky claim her as his. 

That night Bucky was preparing the bedroom when his dad came back over. "Son..sit down." he said 

Bucky sat down on the bed. James handed him a beer "I can tell that you are nervous." 

"Dad I'm beyond nervous. She's already scared of me." he said  

"Well just so you know she's not a beta. She's never been with anyone before so you might want go easy on her." James said

"I know that dad." he said as he took a sip of his beer. 

"What's wrong?' James said 

"Are you sure that you made the right choice dad. I haven't been the best protector to her." he said 

"Yes I'm sure." James said 

"But dad I have failed her." he said

"Because you were away and I let you go. But now you are home and working at the shop again that now you can protect her and now you can love her. You are older now and more mature now. Me and your mama love you very much but now it's your turn to make your own pack and with it being you as a Barnes and her as a Baylor our bloodlines are finally able to breed." James 

"Why didn't you just mate Becca and Max together." he said

"Because Becca was promised to Jordan. Me and Ryan feel like it's fate that you were the last of the older alphas to not have one till she came along. You were meant to protect her." James said

"Okay dad whatever you say." he said as he got up and went to throw away his empty beer bottle.

"But do you like your own cabin now son?' James said as he followed him out.

"Yeah I do dad it's nice. Thank you to you and Ryan for building this for me and Shiloh." he said

"It even comes with a guest wing for when she has the pups." James said 

He smirked and said "Yeah I'm not looking forward to that dad." 

"We never are..but I'm gonna go your mama just wanted me to come check on you." James said

"I'm fine just working on the nest." he said 

"Alright love you son." James said as he hugged him

"Love you too.' Bucky said 

James left to head home when he seen Ryan sitting on his front porch stairs. 

"Ryan.." he said 

"Hey James..I was looking for you Winnie said you went to talk to James. I had to get out of the house as my wife breaks the news to our daughter that she will be leaving our pack to form her own with James. " Ryan said

"It didn't go well I take it." James said as he sat down beside him.

"No..it did not. James scares her anytime he's ever protected her it's been in wolf form and I know that can look scary to someone of her size." Ryan said 

Meanwhile Shiloh was in her room crying as her mom continued to prepare her for what's to come of her life now.
